A trip to the neuro.

I went to see a new neuro today. Subject; CH and neuropathy. I was ready to walk out when he told me verap was for migraines and not useful in treating CH. Oh well I sez to myself, stick around and see what else the good doc has to offer. One was a pillow that relieves the pressure on the occipital (sp) nerve. Tried that before, it was the most uncomfortable thing we (Judy and I) have ever tried to sleep on. We ended up trashing the damned things. The other was an injection (cortisone and a narcotic) at the origen of the nerve at the base of the skull to deaden it. I emphatically declined that but then I've been PF going on 5 weeks now. Anyone tried that? He also said that sleeping on my side puts pressure on the nerve and can bring on an attack. No mention of any of the other meds that have proven so useful to so many of us Oh well. As for the neuropathy, a scrpt vitaminin called FOLTX, an admonition to avoid alcohol and no hope for a cure. $15.00 co-pay please. Kip PS Oh yeah, I forgot to add that he suggested pressure on the occipital nerve in lieu of th injection. He said it would not kill the CH but would likely lessen it. It starts at the base of the skull behind each ear. There's a "notch" in the skull there and you apply max pressure there for 2 minutes.

Oooof... Kinda discouraging, huh? Well at least you're PF, and it was only $15! Might be time to get another doc lined up for next time though.

| Turd Melissa? You got it ! Sleeping on our sides. It's always simple isn't it? From what now likely defunct Caribbean medical school did this crank get a degree? Jeeze Charlie

Kip As we say here, he's about as much use as a CH doctor as a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest Wendy

Wellll... I've been to 3 neuros in the past +/- 20 years. The 1st had heard of CH but had never treated anyone with it. Got my script for O2 from him. Yaaay. The 2nd was a real smart ass, script for lithium, pronounced me cured and sent me for an MRI. $80.00 please. (don't really think he said please). The 3rd was today. What can I say. I think I'll stick with my regular doc. He at least recognizes verap as useful. Kip
