Hello, everyone. I can't tell you how pleased I am to find this board... I have suffered for the past four years from cluster migraines. I thought they were allergy related. My cycles usually come every autumn and last until mid-winter, but this time, a new cycle started two months ago, and this one is the worst one yet. Pain so bad that I'm banging my head on my desk, crushing my palm into my right eye, sobbing in pain, and begging for death. I've been through two wars, been stabbed, burned, beat up, had my face ground to pulp in bike wrecks.... NOTHING is worse than a cluster headache. I'd rather have ALL of these things happen, than to deal with clusters. No matter how cultured, how civilized, how learned we are, pain turns us all into raving animals with no logic, reason, or desire for anything but relief. This most recent cycle brings four and five clusters each day, almost like clockwork. I can count on having one at mid-morning, and I can count on having one at 10:30 at night. I also get one around midnight, and another around 2 a.m. The others blindside me and come on with little or no warning, and feel like someone is jamming a screwdriver into my right eye, and twisting it a few times real hard. In desperation, I finally made a visit to my neurologist yesterday. He put me on 500 mg of Depakote. Today is the first pain-free day I've had in over 6 weeks. Anyway... Glad to find this group, and I look forward to participating. -Frank

Welcome to our world Frank. Sorry you have a reason to find us. You'll probably notice we are like an extended family here where we help each other through the hard times, fight like cats and dogs and crack each other up with humor to relieve the stress of dealing with the pain. Now if you're going to be a part of this family...grab an oar and start rowing. LindaH

Hi there Frank: So very glad that you have finally found relief. Is it your new neurologist that labeled your aliement "cluster migraine?" If so, the term is not quite correct. It is either cluster OR migraine. Althought they may find relief from some of the same medications, they are two completely different animals.....originating at different sources. Also glad you found Clusterville, whose door is never locked. We have much info to offer here and all you need to do is check out the left margin for more than you'd expect. How'd you find us? Have you tried other meds? Good luck and hoping to hear from you often.

Thanks.... Hee hee... Where would I post poetry written during the cluster-crazies? Ugh... After reading some more, I realize that clusters are not migraines per se, but neither are they headaches in the sense of what one experiences during caffeine withdrawals. To be honest, I don't care what they're called; I just want relief. If he wants to call them anal fissures, that's just fine with me, as long as he gives me something that makes the pain in my eye go away!
