Hi y'all, Just wanted to let you know that my friend Diane is driving me to the ER here shortly. The pain has gotten a little too much for me to deal with right now, and the clusters have been coming more and more often every day. Will try to update later if I can... Hugz, Lizzie

Oh boy. Never took the beast to the ER, he's usually gone in the length of time they take to see you if you're not bleediing or don't have chest pains. Of course, if you go by ambulance you get zipped right in. Best of luck. Kip

Wow Lizzie, Sorry to hear the difficulties at this time. The nature of the beast when unabated is to let you know it can be a most dreadful inhabitant your head can only react to with more and more pain. It must be controlled because it won't stop when it knows it has total reign of your life. Get serious to put it's *ss back to hell. Do what you need to do to ease the pain with proper meds. Hope the advise and care you get today will come up with a better solution for it demise. Relay the continuous attempts so far are not helping and the pain is incapacitating. Try not to leave without some assurance from some educated personnel there that they are going to do their best. Abortment seems important right now. The right prevents may take weeks to become fully effective. Abortives will be important in the short term. Sorry to hear Lizzie, and I am really hoping they can give you something that is effective for these times. Be brave and somehow overcome, whatever happens. Be tough and relentless to find your needed Thor's hammer then don't stop beating on it until it runs back in it's cage. Pulling for you with BIG, BIG VIBES. Thoughts and comfort. Kevin M

Lizzie, I hope you feel better soon. I have to second Jonny's comment though... even in a k-8 to k10 there's no way I could possibly get near a keyboard. If the pain is so bad you have to go to the hospital, how in the heck are you posting, let alone in complete sentences? -Shawn

Lizzie, Sorry to hear things didn't get better. Everyone, Lizzie has seen battling a headache called NDPH for over a year, it is a pain that never goes away, and it is at it's worse right now. On top of that she has developed CH and treats with mainly O2, She can post and chat with the NDPH but when she gets a CH she has to go. She is worn out from the constant pain, she barley sleeps and to add the horror of CH to that is more than I could stand. She is trying to get some meds when the insurance won't pay for the ones prescribed. They were warned that this would happen and did nothing about it. Opus/Paul

| That sucks! Has she tried writing a letter of appeal? I've had insurance companies turn me down for prescriptions and treatments before, but with every letter of appeal, the insurance companies reversed their stand, and I got what I needed. (Well, what the docs thought I needed, didn't work for CH, but at least I had the opportunity to try.) If Lizzie needs help in this area, feel free to write me an E-mail and I can help write a letter of appeal. These jerks just want people to think they have no rights, but stand up to them and they aren't as big as they want us to believe. Send me a note if I can help, All my best, Dave

Is the NDPH what 'cat' mite be suffereing from......or is there an update on that I missed ? We have to have our doc call in our physicians hotline to approve imitrex each month when Brad is in cycle.....big hassle.....she needs the meds for relief dam it !! Since our insurence policy has changed I fear for the worst for next cycle. Insurence is only paying about $ 10.00 MAX on all our scripts rite now and it is adding up and gettin outa hand. Brad is out of cycle but due next year......I'm real worried. Insurence doesn't wana cover what ya need cuz they don't wanna pay out for what ya want and NEED to survive.....what a contradiction to why we have it Pam Crock-a-shit ain't it !!??

I think there are more than three on this board that suffer from more than just CH, Lizzie2, Cat and myself included. Daily life filled with chronic pain, whether from CPH, HC, NDPH, meegraines or whatever, leaves one with very little left in the tank to deal when the CH beast appears. Often times my ER visits are after the CH has ended but while the other chronic pain is still there but I am just left with absolutely nothing to cope with the pain anymore and must get some temporary relief. I hope this helps some of you understand that it is not just CH that some are dealing with and CH itself has many variants. good luck lizzie! renee

Hi all, Thanks for the support, vibes, thoughts...and thanks for the explanations Paul and Renee. It is accurate that I didn't have a CH when I left for the ER...just very very severe head pain from NDPH that had been going on for quite some time now. I was also getting 6 CH's/day, but at that time when I went in, I didn't have one. At the ER, they gave me a shot of phenergan and a shot of DHE. Didn't really help my level of pain, but it did allow me to sleep through the night. The doc sent me home once he felt I would be able to get a little bit of sleep. However, the shots seem to have hit a nerve, and right now it is almost impossible to walk! Seems like they try to fix one thing and then screw up another! Oy.. Yesterday, I did not have a CH attack, which I guess means the shots did something. It was really important for me to get a little bit of immediate relief because yesterday morning, my choir travelled to NYC to perform in the Lincoln Center. We took a 4+ hour bus ride there, and then the day was jam packed. It was for the Penn State Alumni Association, and also my very last performance with my choir since I can't attend the next 2. I just got back a little bit ago. While NDPH pain is still pretty high, I have not had a CH yet since going to the ER. Guess I got lucky for once... who knows? But I'll take it. Hugz and thanks again, Lizzie

Welcome home from Hell, Lizzie. Glad to hear you're feeling better, although I'm sorry to hear about your nerve. Sometimes, when medication is injected, it can traumatize the tissue at the injection site, making it feel like a terrible charlie-horse. Anyway, hope you continue to feel better.
