Is there a rule about cussing on this board?
I've gotta vent!
I just got off the phone with my new Dr.'s (family practice) assistant after leaving a msg yesterday.
He wants my file from the neurologist I saw 17 years ago...
How the hell am I supposed to even remember who that was!?
I offered to send 20 yrs worth of my files from my family dr in Missouri, that chronicle my bouts with ch, but that is not good enough!
So this F#*%!#* douchebag won't even give me O2 without sending me to a neuro! HIS neuro! Who TF is that!? What TF does he know about ch? Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground...
But I don't have insurance and this doc knows it, but he wants to see me again, $$$, then send me to his neuro $$$$$$$, then MAYBE get O2, or whatever these two ignorant quacks come up with!

I told them I know of better ch doc's here than they do, so what is the point of using his ignorant ass as a middle man!? Angry Just prescribe me a freaking bottle of O2!!!!

"No. He's not going to prescribe anything till he know's what is going on with me..."

MutherFU$*!#! I just told you what is going on with me!!!!!

For Chrissake! It's oxygen, not oxycontin!

I hate these quack-erasses. You would think that ch would be studied somewhere in that 8 or so yrs that these people spend in school.

So now instead of this guy just being cool and listening to me, because I am the freakin EXPERT on this subject, and giving me a bottle of O2, I have to spend $400 on a specialist to get it.

God I'm pissed. Angry
Thanks for letting me vent.... Cool

It just amazes me the way these people refuse to understand the sense of urgency that we are forced to have...

Especially when it comes to OXYGEN!
It's in the air! Fuck it... I'm gonna go buy a welding kit...

Kev gave you good advice...get your own via welding supply.  On the internet you should be able to get mask, etc.  If you're paying for all the stuff yourself this will be the least expensive way to go.

Good luck,

I totally understand!  We went through the same thing about a month ago. My dr.'s excuse for not writing the O2 script for my husband was because we had children - it was too dangerous.  So is CH.

In any case, I don't know about O2 - but if you live in the Tri-State area (NJ/NY/PA) then I can give you the name of a very VERY good neuro that knows A LOT about clusters and won't insist that you have migraines.
HE get's it and is very educated in CH too.

Good luck with the welding kit!

I live in Phoenix, but thanks anyway!

I know of a few good docs here referred on OUCH, but they're all about $400 for the first visit + medical O2 = about $1000...
And sense I just took 2 weeks medical leave from my job... Sad

I'm all over the welding kit, but need a little more specific info on what I need. Any responses with specifics would be greatly appreciated! PM if need be...

If the "doctor" knew anything about cluster headaches he wouldn't have hesitated prescribing  the 02. I could see if it was a med but that's ridiculous. One other thing my American friends. How can you guys afford to be sick? $4oo.oo for a visit? Holy Fuck! Shocked

Buy a medical regulator on ebay, make sure it goes to 15 LPM.

Go to the welding supply joint and buy a 3"X1/4" NPT. Stem (National pipe thread), a CGA-540 02 connecting nut and some teflon tape.

Unscrew the medical connector on the regulator and toss it in the trash, Slide the nut over the stem and tape the stem threads with the teflon tape.....screw it tight into the regulator and your done. slap that sucker on the tank and start sucking.

When you first turn on the tank put some soapy water on all the connections to make sure there are no leaks, Also.....NPT is very important when buying the stem, anything else wont fit.

Happy Sucking Grin..Dont forget a non-rebreather mask (Medical supply joint)

I dont hun. I'm in the same boat as Superpain. But I also have my husband who will not under any circumstances allow me to use welding O2 because he does not think that it is healthy or safe. So until I can get a doc to prescib it, I am Shit Out of Luck.

Yes, Mac. Doctors here can charge whatevery they want. That is why hea;thcare is such a big issue over here.  Like trying to understand why I can get 12 Imitrex tables a month (6 every two weeks at $25 per fill) or I can get 6 Imitrex NS every 25 days at $50 per fill.  Neither one is really enough to handle my HA, so I have to wait until it gets to the point that I know it is going to be a K8+ before I use either.  Because according to the insurance company and the pharmacy "no one gets more then 6 HA per month". Like I said I must live a month each and every figging day for the past 9 months now. Hell I've lived 22 1/2 CH years already. Damn no wonder I feel old. Wink

Jonny,

I know and I've spent 9 months trying to explain it to him and we just end up fighting about it.  Sad  At the meet and greet here in Vegas, they told me that he was a crappy supporter if he was not willing to get me anything that easily accessable to help with the pain.  But it is not worth me losing my family over.  Cry  I deal. I've gotten pretty good at it.

Have you thought about taking some cookies or something to your local firestation? If you have one close it might be a good idea to make friends with those guys for the bad ones.

Actually, that is the good thing. I have a fire station right next to my work. Literally we share a dirveway. So everyone at my work knows that if I get hit really bad to help me get over there. They are really great about it too.  I've only had to do it once, but it was a life saver.  Told me I could come back whenever I needed.

Actually we are both Traci's I just spell mine differenty.

To be honest, I can t get my husband to even look at these boards.  He is there for me when i need him to be, but to deal with this daily he cant handle it so he buries his head in the sand. I cant force him.  Everyone on this board gets me through the day to day stuff.

Tia, call an oxygen supply company, tell whoever answers the phone that you need for them to explain what Jonny said, and then hand the phone to your husband.

Or maybe give your number to Jonny and ask him to call your husband.  I imagine that Jonny can be very convincing over the telephone.

If he won't listen, just go get your own oxygen.  You can order the tank and supplies over the internet and the oxygen company can come pick it up and fill it for you if you are quadriplegic or something.

That's why only (some) people who work or those who are very poor or fairly wealthy or over 65 years old have insurance and good access to health care in the U.S.

If you don't have insurance you can wait until your condition is life-threatening and then go to the ER and get enough care to make your condition non-life threatening.

On the other hand, we can have elective surgery scheduled and performed within a week or less if insurance or financial resources are present.

They wont, Gas suppliers are instructed to never tell the public that the 02 comes from the same main tank. My gas guy only told me cause I have been dealing with him for over ten years, He also converts medical 02 regs for me cause he knows its safe.

I will be glad to talk to anyone on this subject.

Hey Kev..... Kiss

I use both regulators. I have a medical reg on my big tank, and a welding reg on my smaller tank that I carry in the truck.  I like the welding regulator better....the bag is never empty, and at 15lpm on the medical reg, I can't keep the bag full.

Tia, I agree with jonny.  Don't tell the welding company what you are doing, or what you need the parts for.  If they know, they are obligated by law to refuse you.  I'm like jonny, my place knows what I use it for, but our ranch has dealt with them for over 25 years now, so they let it slide.  They know my acetylene only gets filled every couple of months.....
