Anyone care to remember?

If I had known that they were playing so close I would have been there, and most likely so close to the stage I would have never gotten out.

Now when I go to clubs I check and re-check the exits and always stand at the back of the room, some how getting close to the stage does not seem so important.

I got vibes and prayers going up for the one hundred that lost their lives and two hundred injured.

I for one, am glad you missed out on getting to hear them play.  We would be at quite a loss without your continued support, witt and keen sense of giving us a well deserved kick in the ass when we need it.

Jackweed.  Just what the hell is that?

It is terrible that an accident of this magnitude can happen.  People just trying to have a good time, let off a little stress,  have a few brews, dance, perform a mating ritual and enjoy life, when a horendous accident occurs.  Tragic loss of life.

I'm still glad you were absent --- butthead

Jonny, I deal with Life Safety issues in my work daily.

Adhearing to occupancy loads seem to be the weak link.  In venues where more means more, little attention seems to paid to this critical issue.  Units of egress, remote exits, sprinkler systems, well defined exits...I could go on...

When I am unfamiliar with where I am, I always check out the layout.  Likely one of my few good habits.

Never let your guard down and become someone in the pile at the door.

Damn, can't believe that's been a year ago already.
May they R.I.P.  Cry

A loooong time ago my mom got me in the habit of scoping out exits wherever I go. Been doing it for years and you all should too, it could save your life.

The video that you will be hard pressed to get now was the people stacked seven high screaming for someone to pull them out the door as the flames are screaming above them, at this point you know that they are burning as they lay there.

One shot showed a firefighter pulling a dude only to pull his hand right off as he laid in the pile.

The thing that pissed me off the most about this fire, is that the errors discovered way back in the Conconut Grove Nightclub fire (EDIT: Nov. 28, 1942, Boston, around 400 people killed), were ignored here.  How many times do we have to have this thrown up in our face and kill people before we learn?

Damn shame!
