Hi again and thanx everyone, am still learning how to reply individually so pls understand all you wonderful warm folk out there this is learning process...11 yr old kids know more about this computer than me. Hell, make that 6yr olds... Anyway my ? was: What do you working people do? I am back to work Friday and know my cycle is not over, even w/ trex it is going to be a bear...I am gate agent for airline and spend entire day on my feet dealing with public----shall we say ISSUES----and there is nowhere to hide, I have been w/ this co barely 3yrs and they have not had the pleasure of viewing the monster....needless to say he is not discussed if he is not there...so now I will go back to work on dbl shift coming Fri commencing @ 530am and terminating @ 1000pm....though I will take meds with it is likely something will be noticed---like whn I slam my head into the door of the aircraft or shove a pen into my eye....so. Do you professional folks prefer to talk to supervisor in advance or wait and let them think you are criminally insane?! Or, if you are superviser, can I come work for you? Just to nip this in the bud...yes, anyone can call in sick. I do not wish to pursue this route since I have "perfect attendance" w/ said co and that is primary ways and means to transfer and move up...having said that I know health comes first...just putting this subject out there. Will be waiting replys...everyone stay healthy peaceful and happy and if you are PF now hallelujah!!! Jean thx for updates. Fully expect to be there on 28th!! keep the faith happily not-alone Karen

Karen, Welcome. It seems if you've been at your job for 3 yrs. you've already proven yourself to be a good employee. Clusters have not caused a problem with work for you until now. I see no reason to worry. I would let the boss know that you are in a cycle right now and may occasionally get a headache & you may need to run off for 20 minutes or so. I personally have never had a problem with my bosses over the years giving me a little leeway dealing with Clusters. You can respond by saying you would be willing to make up any lost time or whatever it takes to keep a good record for yourself. Ask your boss if there is somewhere you may go during an attack and talk to others who work with you so they may cover for you while your gone without any interruptions to the task at hand. Planning is the key to dealing with working & clusters. Others may disagree with my idea so read all the options given and choose what's best for your situation. ps: If they don't take you seriously, when they do acutally see you during an attack, they usually change their attitude real quick. Good Luck To You & May You Have Many PF Days To Come.

Karen, I agree with BlueMeanie and only have this link to add. It explains in laypersons terms what clusters are like. http://www.ouch-uk.org/ch/note_colleagues.cfm It might be a good idea to print it out and give it to your supervisor. Ask that it be placed in your personnel file so if there is ever a dispute, you have something to backup you situation. Best of luck to you, and wishing you PFDAN's, -dan

| I slowly educate them. When I explain that when I have a headache I have to inject myself and breath oxygen the seriousness hits home. That I am criminally insane is a given as I have clearly spelled that out on my resume.

I think the pen in the eye thing will definately show your insane side...lol what a graphic...hehehe I'm glad I work at home, I can bash my noggin freely in private. I hope you have access to O2 there..if not you might want to get a small portable cylinder to take with you to work for fast relief. They key to dealing with these things at work is to know when it is coming and kill it before it gets in there. I have a 2-5minute window to get my meds in to abort or it's too late for me Good luck and I hope you don't have probs with your employer. Good idea to print out the colleagues form and show them a bit of what it is about. Hugssss Mikeyd

I definitly agree with notifying a supervisor of your condition. I had this backfire once though. This person told me to take a aspirin and go back to work. I outlasted him though and my new boss is not only supportive, but he created a place for me to go when i am suffering. I think though, what helped my new supervisor understand was i printed out all of the CH info from this site and gave it to him to read. I also let him witness me in a fullblown cycle. I sat in a chair in his office, with the red eye that was watering profusely. I told him that when i was in this condition, i am always just a few steps away from sticking my head in a vise and squeezing the life outta the bastard! Good luck, Patrick

Do you think that when they asked George Washington for his ID, that he just whipped out a One Dollar Bill?

Karen, Guess we've all been in the same boat when it comes to work, but no-one knows your boss better than you so play it by ear but you gotta tell them. The last time I had CH I took two weeks off work - that went down real well LOL, this time my CH came over the Christmas Hols, so they mostly hit in my own time but when I was due back at work I gave my boss a copy of the OUCH handout and he read ALL of it and revealed an otherwise unseen human side to his nature (even to the extent that when another colleague of mine started asking too many questions my boss told him to go off and read the handout and then ask questions - now that's support!). Now everyone who works with me are aware of the tell-tale signs of CH and know when to stay away from me. Hope this is of some help - you can and well get through it but it's easier if you don't hide and worry less Take Care
