An Observation....

I've been involved with many different groups over the years....social, political, charitable, business, philanthropic, etc. As a participant in these different groups/organizations I've attended countless conventions, meetings, parties, banquets, etc. Now.......what I saw in Davenport, Iowa, at last weekends 'meet & greet' was the most amazing event I've ever witnessed or attended. The instant bonding between clusterheads is unprecedented. I hesitate to equate it with love at first sight but that's exactly what it is. Watching them interact with each other is quite emotional....it's like long lost brothers and sisters finding each other. They are from different parts of the country, have different lifestyles and different interests. It makes no differenct to them.....the love and compassion they have for each other is immediate. Should any of you have the opportunity to meet another cluster sufferer make sure you do it. You'll never be alone again. Watching Blake participate in this group was heartwarming to me. He felt comforted and reassured by these clusterbuds. I've been by his side for years and will be until the day we die but he now has support that I'll never be able to provide....no one "knows" like another clusterhead does. You clusterheads are tough, ornery, strong willed, compassionate, unselfish, loving and the most giving bunch of people I've ever know. Bless your hearts. Love to you all.... Jacks

Jackie, I like your analogy of long lost brothers and sisters finding each other. To me that's exactly what it is. Each of us have been there and we understand what the others have been through. There's just nothing like being able to sit and talk to someone who knows firsthand what ch's are all about. And Jackie, I know Sue got a lot out of last weekend as well. She really enjoyed being able to talk to you and other supporters who were there about experiences. You all go through it just like we do and although you don't have the pain associated with it your lives are turned upside down as well. Where would we be w/out those who support us? thanks to all who were there, we really enjoyed it. Jim

Couldn't have said it better myself, Jackie. Having our clusterheads meet some of their "own kind" is such a gift to us supporters. It's a gift we can't give them. And THEN, meeting other supporters - it's the same kind of love at first sight thing that you mention. It's like finding people from our home planet. NOTHING compares. Well said, sister.

I agree with Jackie and at one time during the convention in NY I was sitting with the doctor, just observing the group. We both sat back and said look at them! Such commonalities... the energy, the habits, etc. I think instant bonding is part of the healing process. To feel so alone for such a large portion of Daves adult life, and then find so many people that share that same horrible affliction... it was like a gift to him. I dont think he has suffered as painfully at least emotionally since we came to ch.com~~~~~~~~~~ love ree

Personally, I prefer to the be the one suffering the CH's. Why? Because my pain is one that can be fixed with medication and research and time to find a cure. I know this, I know that (for me) I can take an injection and in a little bit the CH will go away. Supporters don't have that benefit. The pain they feel is a pain in their souls, in their hearts, in the very fabric of their being as they watch the one they love suffer horribly. As a mother, and a wife, I could not bear to watch someone I love go through this. To date, there is no medication - no pill - no injection, that a supporter can take to ease the pain they feel - nothing can relieve the pain and anguish of their hearts breaking as they helplessly watch those of us that endure the pain of a CH. To anyone who has never met a fellow clusterhead, or had the opportunity to watch a fellow CH'er go through their hell that is the same as ours, it is an experience so moving and humbling words just do not express it well. Go and meet your family members, the ones that suffer the CH, and the ones that the suffer the heartache of watching us. You'll never regret it, and you will find a bond that is beyond explanation. Here is what I observed. I have not only met many clusterheads but many supporters through the years. Margi, Jackie and Ree were among them. What I saw was not pity in ya'll eyes but more understanding and compassion than any Doctor I had ever met. You guys are really full of more knowlege than we are. I think you guys must study it more. I feel just as comfortable and just as excited to be with you guys as I do my clusterheads. To have someone that is interested and understands and is not a cluster head is also very important to us. I noticed clusuterheads seem to seek you guys out. I think we all bonded as brothers and sisters supporters and suffers. Before I found this site my supported was Buddy and he never stopped looking for a answer for me. He watched all the talk shows read all the books, yelled at nurses and doctors when I was in to much pain to do it myself. I know what kind of hell Buddy went through so I also know what kind of hell you guys went through, we all suffer just in different ways. We all mean a lot to each other. OK my meds must be working on me LOL I am getting long winded here.

we are strangers, you and I like stars on opposite ends of the sky. to the same music we dance we have found each other by chance with nothing in common but the burden we bear we count on each other to always be there. we share each others pain and sorrows, we pray for each others brighter tomorrows. like long lost relatives that we never have met but the bonds are as strong as blood you can bet. a most memorable time that will touch your heart when you meet your first clusterbud and don't want to part we laugh, share stories, and even cry, especially when it's time to say goodbye. our paths will cross again you will see we live in Clusterville and will always be family. a feeling I will never forget....meeting my first clusterbuddies............. a tribute to you all...little deb

Bless your heart........Jackie Not sure where I would be today, had it not been for this site.............and for you, my "angel". I know the people here are getting tired of me saying that about you..........but it is true, and I will NEVER be able to give back as much as you have given me! Thank you, for the support, advice, and love you have given me. You and Blake will be forever in my heart! I love you, Jean

I think, no, I KNOW, I am going to be sick! If this isn't the most sickly sweet bunch of trash I have ever read! Yer all just a bunch of whinning bellyachers! Sheeessshhhh! It was so much better reading the truth as written in The REAL deal on IOWA ..... When I met the group down in South Carolina, I could barely hold down my last meal! Yer all just a bunch of sick whackos! How could ANY one show any good feelings fer such a group!!! Bleuuucccchhhhhh!!!! The only reason I go to these groups is to find out where y'all live, and then when I am ready to start on my next axe murdering spree, I will have plenty of victims! Oi vey! Chuck PS: Lissa, before you get upset, the above was written facetiously! There is NOTHING to equal the thrill and bonding of meeting CH'ers!

Before the Iowa meet, all you big tough guys said that there WILL NOT be any blubbering, crying, tears, hugs or missing each other afterward. I hate telling you that I told you so!!!!!!!!! It is so very true that us clusterheads seem to seek you supporters out. When I finally got to meet Margi in Vancouver, it really was like we were long lost sisters. Same with Ree. I hope so much to meet you Jackie. Gotta go now, there is some dust in my eyes. Linda
