Pet Peeve (grrr)

I met my boyfriend's family for the first time over the holidays. They were all very nice. One thing that bugged the shit out of me was their constant complaints about migraine headaches. My boyfriend, his sister and his brother all get migraines. New to the "family", I thought I'd add to the conversation by saying that I get cluster headaches. They both responded "Oh yeah, we have those too" (like it was no big deal). I was like, yeah right!!!! If they really had clusters, they wouldn't have just said "Oh yeah, I get them too!" It made me mad. Grrrrrrr.

I was told recently in Florida that this condition I had was more or less stress related and mentally conceived. I saw red. Wish that individual could spend a few days in our shoes.

The only thing to do is let them see you with a CH, and when they offer you Tylenol tell then it won't help at all. Also make sure they know it is impossible to sleep with a CH. That's all you want to do with a Migraine.

I'm not a clusterhead and comments like that piss me off!!!!
Example: I had new carpet laid in my office. The carpet man decided I should know all his wife's medical problems....including migraines. I related that my husband suffered from chronic cluster headaches. His response....."oh yeah, she has those too". My response (to myself... ) B*llshit she does.
Another one that gets to me is when friends and acquaintances say to me something like....."Jackie, you're an intelligent woman. I can't believe you let this go on. Why don't you get him to a good doctor"....
If people only knew....
