In Need of Support...

Hi everyone, Well I've been in the hospital for a week now, and although I'm down to about one - two clusters a night (yay!), my new daily persistent headache is still at a 5. (Booooo) My neuro just told me that he is going to run a dose of one of the same meds I got yesterday IV one more time, and then I'll stay on DHE one more day. In 48 hours I'll have been weaned off the IV meds and set to go home. But I don't feel happy because I'm still at a 5. I usually leave with a 3. A 5 is hard to go back to school with and start my very last semester in college and just function in general. I just feel very upset right now. Maybe the one more round and the extra day of DHE will help? So far, I haven't gotten too many results except to get down to this 5. Anyways, sorry for venting... Hopefully he'll send me home with a good plan for preventing and aborting both NDPH and clusters. I guess we'll find out in a couple days! Take care and PF! ~Lizzie

For me trying to stay focused on anything with a 5+ is extremely difficult. Hope the SOB goes away quietly before you leave the Hospital.

Lizzie, I hope and pray that you will be PF soon. Have you or your doctor thought that the cluster treatments may be making the other headache worse. I have a continual problem with cluster treatments triggering migraines and vise vera. Just a thought. I will pray for you often. Opus/Paul

Hey Lizzie. Wishing you well. Don't know if you want to hear this, but if I were you, I would tell all the doctors who were seeing me, that I WILL NOT go home in this much pain and that I am staying right here in this damn hospital bed until they find something to control my pain to a somewhat tolerable level, which to me would be a 1 or 2. And that would be that. I would go to the hospital administrator if I had to or whoever. I do not believe they can make you leave when the pain is still an issue. That's my feeling and I'm sticking to it. Best of luck to you. Little Deb

I get real optimistic when after about three months I get down to fives. My overall attitude is better because of the pending letup. It gets pretty dark before the dawn. This inbetween time I am going to alter some meds for next time. What worked in the past has not been so successful this last time. So my attitude about fives is not so worrisome after years of cycles. Perhaps in the past, at this point you were at threes, but I never try to leave too big of a gap between expectations and reality, reality is what it is. That is what causes most to continue to seek out new and better ways to cope and address how "it" will decide to treat one by logging on here, and getting the moral support in spades provided here by the very kind and helpful words of people who will respond to your every concern about your well being. Log on and keep writing when overwhelmed, confused, inquisitive or looking for some beacon in the storm. Emerging is a good sign, but if it's a hanging on a little tougher this time, we're all here. Let us know how you feel about it and how it goes, everyone here has candles to light for you. Don't let this dampen any ambitions or your performance in attaining what you are set on doing. Persevere, endure and come here when you have to bitch or implore for encouragement. Yes, "it" hampers life, heavily at times, like an unseeable oppression but I have read some people here who's words and opinion are truly inspiration as to what they can become and contribute in spite of. Some respectable real BADASS spirit here. Log on, you'll find it. Best to ya. Kevin.

I have faith in you, Lizzie! You supported me through my rough time... now I'm here for you. You CAN do this... might not be easy, but you can. Hopefully the 5 will be down to a level that's manageable before you leave the hospital.... I'm sending out huge vibes to you..... Lizzie, who's the spacey Lizzie

Thanks so much for all the support. I've been really having a rough night trying just to deal with all of it. But I'm feeling better about it now than earlier. I wrote a list out of all the things I want to ask my neuro before discharge in a few days. I just worry most about returning to school with a 5 headache. BUT...I got through last semester with 7's and above for NDPH and undiagnosed and untreated clusters for a long time, so I suppose I will make it through one more semester before graduation! I went off the parnate (MAOI) as of yesterday. In two weeks it will be all out of my system and I can do things like eat cheese! Woohoo! I always have appreciated the feedback and support from everyone here. Thank you! "I get by with a little help from my friends...." At least there are things that now my neuro and I see eye to eye on, and we are working to find a good plan for treatment for both types of headache. I'll get there someday! Just have to remember not to give up! Thanks again for the support! ~Lizzie (AKA Lizzie2)
