I guess it was one of those "inside" jokes where no one knows "the insides".  My husband and I own the original model of the Toyota Prius which is a gas/electric hybrid vehicle that gets way better gas mileage than those gas guzzling SUV's.  Perhaps on one hand I was attempting to illict a socio-political response to my "joke" about gas prices. On the other hand from a psychological point of view maybe I was trying to say that we have extra money so my husband can take me out to "expensive" restaurants (and not gas stations) because we save on gas money.  Have I analyzed my joke enough yet? Is it even funny anymore?

Have I analyzed my joke enough yet? No. We can analyze it to death. My turn.  Roll Eyes

Toyota Prius. hybrid Highlander.  Now that is a vehicle.
No, these are not vehicles. When the Prius and hybrids are built to run 110+ mph in a quarter mile, sound like a real American V8 sucking air in through a blower and exhausting it through glass packs then it can be called a vehicle. Until then they are only appliances to hide in the garage.

those gas guzzling SUV's
If someone wants a tiny, underpowered rice grinder that’s fine with me, but, the Excursion stays in my driveway next to the wife’s Lexus (they won’t fit in the garage anyway. The 325hp Chebby V8 powered street rod is in the way).

"expensive" restaurants (and not gas stations).
Around here we have 2 kinds of gas stations. One is called a 7-11 and the other is called a Circle K. They have great hot dogs and "expensive" gas. So, by the time you pay for a hot dog and get gas you have been to an "expensive" restaurant.

Is the joke still funny. Yes. Thanks Sam, May I call you Sam?

Please don’t take my analysis serious. I made most of it up.  Grin
