i've done pretty good research on both sides of family. so far i'm the only known "CLUSTER-HEAD". although migranes were on both sides. is this rare? my gut feeling is that some of these family members probally had clusters and were diag. with migranes.

I couldn't find any history in my family of clusters or migraines. My father was allergic to dynamite, it gave him a 3 day headache. He also got a raging headache once in a while when on an extended drunk, a shot to knock him out fixed those as best as i remember. Guess you never can tell when someone will break new ground.

Migraines seemed to run in my family on my Mom's side. My to sisters escaped them and I seem to have passed them on to my daughters and my 10 year old grandson (God help them all). I can't find any CH tendencies any where else in the family though - perhaps I did something wrong in a previous life and am now being punished for it!

My maternal grandfather had histamine headaches aka clusters. My sister has migraines, my mother had migraines, but I believe she had undiagnosed episodic CH, looking back she had the symptoms.

No history in my family either...and I've done a pretty extensive search on both mother's and father's side of family.

| Does dynamite have nitroglycerin in it? It is 100% trigger for all cluster sufferers. Family tree? I have never heard of any member of my family on either side that has suffered migrains or clusters.

My grandmother suffered from classic migraine but my brother suffered from ch. Otherwise, I don't know of any other family members who were afflicted. My brother seems to have outgrown his - it has been nine years since his last episode. He is 59. Anybody have any info about outgrowing the beast? dagger

| I'm going on 58 and I haven't had a full blown cycle in almost 5 years. Just cycles of shadows each year. There are others here older than I am and they are still have regular clusters. Outgrow? I don't know.

I have a sisters with clusters, a brother and an other sister without. No sign of any headaches in parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and about 2 dozen cousins. BTW, I'm 67, my sister 71. So much for outgrowing PFNADs, Ueli

I think my father had migraines. Not sure. Could have been clusters? He was never diagnosed. They went away when he turned 50 and he seems to think I may have the same good fortune.

Nitro! Yup, it sure is, but the never had a cycle of anykind, only rare bad headaches, either nitro or alcohol induced. But, alcohol is one heck of a trigger for me.Who knows, pain is pain, and the beast sucks!
