5 days ago I began to get headaches on the left side. They begin at the temple , then eye, upper jaw and neck. They do not throb. The pain is second to my kindney stone 3 1/2 years ago. Each day the pain seems worse. I am a heck of a sleeper and these are waking me up. They last around 30 - 60 minutes 2 to 3 times a day. These just began 5 days ago. Could these be cluster or just migraines?

I walk around. Rub my temple a bit. Nothing seems to help. It just goes away after time.

definition of migraine, the pain starts to ebb slowly over the head and builds until light and noise make the person whince. Upon lying down, in the dark, the pain eases. If sleep perchance does occur, upon waking the pain will be gone, or less. But the headache will be there on the back burner for hours and hours at the same pain level. Definition of Cluster, Within seconds you are under siege of the burning irritation of pain. Sometimes nose will be stuffy or runny on one side. You eye may water and tear or lid may droop. The pain will not let you sit, or focus on task at hand. It will torment you for a few minutes, up to 90minutes... and suddenly disappear. Mayb eit will be gone completely for sever hours...but it will come back. Lying down jsut makes you think that it hurts. Watching tv jsut make you think it hurts. Pacing lets you think it hurts. In general it just hurts. After the pain goes, you are tired. Am or pm attack. You just want to sleep for four days. If perchance you do sleep. an hour or two you will find yourself in pain again. Dancing with the beast. It may come back at the very same time on Tuesday, Wed, skip thrusday and come back on Friday. It may be the same paion level each time it may fluzuate. Each headache is a battle of survival and you pray it is not a burst blood vessel or a tumor. You also pray you never get another headache again. When the cycle ends, you convince yourself it was jsut a little headache, and it won't come back. No sense runnig to the doctor... but next year, when it comes back, well , then you know for sure you'd better get your tail to see the doctor. Get oxygen, get Zomig/Imitrex, get something to chase the beast away. Dont' wait until next year. Start a journal, write down everytime you get a small twinge...how long it lasts and what you do while it hurts. Good luck and God bless ya! Tam

Too early to tell if you have clusters or not. Better rule out other things first. See a doc, have an MRI etc. BTW, I thought kidney stones were easy compared to a cluster attack. I've had stones twice, lithotripsy (sp) once. I'd rather do that everyday. The Morphine got rid of the kidney stone pain ... it won't help me with a cluster. Unsolved

First, there are too many possibly serious causes for a new headache pattern to seek a Dx here. Get to your doc. Second, agree with "unsolved": Newly emerging clusters often do not appear as the classic textbook description. It may take several months or longer before a clear pattern of attacks stabilizes which can be accurately diagnosed.

oooh, have had several kidney stone (got one right now actually) and have had a child - would rather deal with that pain any day over a cluster! If you aren't having a high kip then it is bearable. Like the others said - get a diagnosis. could be migraines - I get them too, but can't pace with a migraine. just want to lay down and shut the shades and have no noise when I have a migraine! Karen

clewis, Let us no how you are doing and when you go to the doctor. Sounds like clusters, but you need to find out for sure, to get the proper treatment. Here to help if I can. Ruth
