Homemade Ice Packs

As most of you are probably aware of frozen peas or frozen vegetables being used as an Ice Pack, during an attack...another convenient and inexpensive way to make an ice pack is it to fill a plastic ZipLoc bag with a 1:3 alcohol to water mixture. Leave the baggie in the freezer until it becomes slushy. Remove the baggie from the freezer and apply to the head in the same manner as the frozen vegetable technique noted above.
Make a few ahead of time & be prepared.
Stay painfree.

I have one that's really easy on the skin. Buy dried corn in the spanish food section of the store. Sew it into a burlap bag. Keep in the freezer. In a pinch, it can also be heated in the microwave for about 1 minute (or less) and used as a hot pack.

same with dry rice, or lentles...and burlap is rather rough...any good thick fabric would do wouldn't it?

Just one caution, Jimmy ....
Be sure to cover your ziplock with a pillowcase or towel. Otherwise, the icepack you're suggesting can severely burn the skin.

True, Pegg. When I think about it, the fabric I have isn't actual burlap, but a woven cotton that has a burlap type weave...
