Being exposed to chemicals won't cause cluster headaches but may trigger an attack. Clusterheads are in many different occupations. Best Wishes, Unsolved

Yes, I am around woodworking finishing fumes, solvents. When the CH started up this fall, I really hadn't been around them as much, business was slow. So I don't know if that is a concern or not, however I am trying to limit my exposure as much as I can. Mine hit every other night whether or not I'm in the shop. This is a crazy ordeal and also wonder what's the deal, can't figure out any triggers, scared of doing anything different, why get them every other night?? God forbid it would happen every night. It wipes me out big time!!! But have aborted slight one with O2 for the first time, back to bed in 10 minutes! Good Luck!!!!

I'm a 32 year factory worker, and around loud noises and dirty air all day.Took some time off after a heart attack and CH never let up.I think after what I've read here and seeing all sorts of doctors that I may never know the cause of my CH.There are triggers that I can identify, but even if I avoid everything I can,the friggin deamon can still find his way inside my head. They can put a man on the moon and a moron in the whitehouse, but still don't have a cure for CH.Maybe some day I'll go 24 hours PF. i work at a large tissue/towel mfg. facility. we recentley started making scented tissue (not on my line), everytime i walk by the line that is making them i will get an attack within 5 mins.. i've also noticed that during clean-up, i have to wear goggles and dust mask while blowing down paper dust. it seems the pressure from the mask and goggles will sometimes bring on an attack. also getting to overheated seems to do it.

I asked a very similar question like this on the Board a few months ago, for I too had been exposed to high concentrations of chemicals (refrigerants) while in an earlier occupation. Constantly thinking my CHs were a result of this chemical. Based on these responses and other reading I've done, occupations seem to be too varied to be indicative. I have now accepted as fact I have a dysfunctional or abnormal hypothalmus gland as cause for these damn CHs. Triggers? Can't pinpoint any when I'm not in a cycle. But while in a cycle, I'm very careful with anything that seems common to when the Beast comes to visit.

From the messages posted here it appears that exposure to solvents, perfume, perhaps we may generalize to any low flash point products, will trigger an attack when you are in an active cluster period. As with alcohol, these items may not affect you when you are not in a cycle.
