180 days Pain Free

In a couple of hours I will have made 180 days pain free since my last headache...How anyone can still be taking everything I read here they are taking completely blows me away. (And please spare me any righteous indignation about alternative treatment being illegal, immoral, or that it only works for some people.) Anyway, for those of you who have wished me well, I am doing well, feeling better than ever before...thank you... Peace & Positive Energy D

Glad to hear it! Oliver Cromwell is supposed to have said: "Put your trust in God, but keep your powder dry." For me as a Clusterhead, that means treat every pain free day as a gift, but get all the Imitrex refills my insurance company will put up with long after my CH episode ends, because four years from now I might just be very glad to have 80 injections squirreled away in a cool dark closet.

Thanks vig & BlueMeanie...Revolvr - There is not one pill or syringe in this house, not one, for the treatment of clusterheadache, and there will not be any either. You did not ask for any advice...but I want you to know Imitrex is not your friend, neither is the man who prescribed it for you...in my humble opinion. Good luck with it though. I am all ears if you have other non-drug methods that will reliably abort a CH. Everyone here is looking for such a holy grail. I am not pleased to be taking drugs like that either, but Imitrex beats unbearable pain for me. I have had about 80% success with pure O2. I will obviously take that over drugs when available and practical. -- Rev

I haven't taken any Imitrex shots since January. I wonder how long the Verapamil stays good in the refrigerator. Haven't used any of that either... hmmm...

Mr. Happy - We have never met, in person nor do I recall on this board; the not so subtle reference to elitism appears to be a cheapshot. It simply does not take rocket science to figure this out...If your action gets the same undesired result everytime, when doing something else might get you the desired result... Detachment is one characterization of the elite, and one would be hard pressed to suggest I was detached from the ultimate goal of ending the miseries and mysteries of this disease for us all. If it makes you happy...fire away...at the wrong target. fyi: I subscribe to a well known theory. "the world is saved one man at a time." Everyone may not appreciate this view, that is okay with me, my hope is reaching just one person. My style might not be well suited for your personality, my presentations might not either, but the message is clear to those lucid enough to hear it. Peace & Positive Energy D

Hey John! Three cars, two motorcycles, two parking spaces...something has to go! (laughs) She is NOT getting another motorcycle! She rides behind me or else... The rain suit fits me perfectly, by the way, thanks bud...if there are any rain clouds I find them when I ride... Life without a gawd-damn headache is incredible and not on all those horrendous drugs. I should leave all this board talk to miapet...I hate seeing these guys still taking pharmacy that at best is questionable. I think I will go ride the new bike awhile... Peace & Positive Energy D

Good for you, D!!! May your PFDAN last forever. Try to remember, though, some of us shy away from some things. I've seriously considered the clusterbuster treatment (haven't completely ruled it out either) but I have 2 kids in the house and I'm having a hard time imagining my cooler in the closet and having to say "No no sweetie, you can't have those for your burger they're Nani's."

Nani - I understand your dilemma better than you might think...I will let the other Busters break the news...soon everyone will have choices without those concerns...(soon to someone suffering from this hideous debilitating disease is not soon enough)... alan_nickie - Yes, you must detox, prednisone is also exceedingly dangerous, becareful with that stuff. We can win this fight, we are sending you our strongest vibes. Please do let us know and if we can be of any help just let us know. ArCane - Thank you & may we all find PF... D Congrats on getting relief. Keep the message coming loud and clear. You can't teach and old dog new tricks but there are allot of pups out there that NEED to hear this message. Unsolved got it right There is no wrong way to get relief but there are certainly options that make more sense than others. People just need to understand that this isn't the ride that peope imagine. It takes far less and may be hardly noticeable. Nani, I've got kids as well and believe me they would much rather see me with this (after I openly explaind what it was all about) than suffer with more pain.

karma - I'm not going to stop sending the message...I'm not only an active advocate for the alternative treatment, I'm also strongly opposed to many of the pharmaceutical approachs prescribed by physicians. Imitrex, ergots, prednisone, lithium, verapamil, depakote, just to name a few, are not these guys friends, period. In my opinion it is time for someone to take a stand on this board, someone who can articulate this well enough for people suffering to get it...my two cents worth will be here periodically. Hey D, I for one appreciate your post! I have been one of those unfortunate few that really did not achieve anything near your level of success in that route of therapy. Though you inspire that there might be hope for more of us. Stay PF my Brother!
