Just when you think....

...that the cocktail (verap and topomax) is working well. Been two heavenly weeks since I've had to abort an attack. Two weeks with nothing but minor twinges, not even a shadow otherwise. Now I'm sitting here trying to negotiate with with beast again. Should have known something was amiss when I reached for the damn dental floss. I will not abort...I will not abort...temporary set back is all. Some one pass the frozen peas please?

Been on Verapamil since April... 40 minuets....still not the worst I've endured...but scared that the cocktail is beginning to fail. And here I thought I had this beat for a while. Silly me for thinking huh?

Oh, since april. I hope you're not right about your cocktail. Maybe it's time to make a neuro call to discuss it. PF days and nights. Ronny.

Should this continue, I will have to put in a call to Pam (my HA specialist). Knocking on wood and lighting a few candles this was a freak occurance.

No worries, you'll figure it out. Maybe you're right and it is a nasty twist from Beasty boy.

[quote author=Redd715 link=board=chspecific;num=1098043125;start=0#0 date=10/17/04 at 15:58:45]...that the cocktail (verap and topomax) is working well. Been two heavenly weeks since I've had to abort Hi Redd, My hubby is taking the same cocktail as you. He has been on this for about 3 weeks now and when the hits do come they are aborted easily with the 02 and on occasion has had to inject. Today, he feels great, (last hit 2am) of course that is always subject to change but we were hoping it is the new cocktail thats keeping it in check. What are your normal cycles? It is hard to tell for us because he has had Ch's for the past 10 years but only once had a very long and difficult cycle (00/01, lasting 4 months) the other cycles were sporadic, lasting anywhere from 2-8 weeks with no meds (except imitrex). Thanks for your input. Connie

Connie, I'm chronic. Have been for about 12 years misdiagnosed till this spring when the beast decided to morph. Now I also have marked high cycles/seasons, take your pick. Still not sure how this will pan out, but in my second high season since March. First one lated 12 weeks. 5 weeks into this one. Between the worse times I get hit for a day or two then get 4-5 days off then hit again for a couple then 4-5 days off again. Had been pretty much like that with just a few more days between before the mutation in March.

Redd, Thanks for you reply. I guess I spoke to soon, my hubby just got hit and is doing the O2 as I type. Just believe in what you said, this is just a temporary set back. I hope your cycle ends very soon.

Chronic with cycles...just like me. Lucky? I keep asking God to just give me a hint about what this lesson is - I'm ready to learn it. Oh well- all we can do is our best. My neuro just added lithium to my verap, neurontin(anti-convulsant like topamax) cocktail. Lithium had some weird effects, but I'm hangin' in hoping for a true PFD. Yesterday I just shadowed all day. Today I'm getting hit as I write with a 7(so far) on my other side. ... Hugs and vibes to you Redd. I'm gonna go light some candles ... if I only had some O2

I am not sure I want to know this, but you guys/gals that are chronic did it just happen one day or have you always been chronic. How do you function? My heart goes out to you, we have such a hard time just getting through a 6-8 week cycle (although last time was 4 months).

Just when you think you have the answers, it all CHanges on you. That's why it's good to keep track of all the things that have worked for you in the past. Mix it up. Try things again. Even those that DIDN'T work before, maybe NOW they will. The beastard adapts and so can you! Good luck Pegg!
