Cross- eyed. Help!

It's official, my doc said I have Cluster Headaches, don't ya know! I'm in my seventh month of my first every cluster headaches without a break until now. It's been ten days since my last bad headache. I hope it stays that way. My question is, my right eye is out of control. Even though I am pain free, my eyelid droops and my vision is all over the place. It's not constant, but it is daily. Am I stuck with this forever? It's really hard to wear eye makeup. Thanks, Carolann

Assuming the symptoms you describe are Horner's Syndrome and not something else, chances are it will go away. If it persists without the headaches for much longer it might be worth getting it checked by the doc.

Superpain- I think I read somewhere that there is a slight risk of permanent Horner's syndrome with cluster HAs. Have you heard that? But that also sometimes happens to me. It's as though my eye needs a little more time to recover than the rest of me.

| Ah yes......there's so few firsts left in life. About the eye thing. That quadrant has been thru hell. Give it some time. Makeup is the least of your worries. You hopefully just made it thru your first cycle. Great news. Time to get ready for the NEXT go around, because it's going to happen, sure as God made little green apples. The horror isn't over. It's just halftime. Planning is everything, RJ

Thank you all for your replies. I'm just happy to have a break from the pain. I have my 02 ready to go just in case. I'm lucky that I made it to 55 before the beast got me. I suffered with migraines from puberty to menopause, so I do know something about bad headaches. Cluster headaches are much worse. I love this website! Carolann

I too have heard the Horner's Syndrome can become permanent. Give your eye a while, maybe even up to a month, to recuperate. My experience is that after the CHs end, some of their side effects linger. For me, the eye is a little droopy and prone to tearing, but the most irritating lingering effect is scalp tenderness - its like the 'flu feeling' only worse. These disappeared within a month of the last CH in my last cycle. good luck to you, walt

OK - I'll be the doomsday speaker on this one. My first cycle was rather unusual, but I was left with a permanent droop of the left eye (not severe - just there). Don't let this bother you right now. As time passed (and it always does), the "droop" - which was quite obvious to me - became much less noticeable to everyone else (and eventually to me, too). On occasion I still notice it in pictures, especially if I was a little tired when the photo was taken. It gets somewhat worse during cycles, but then lessens again. However - I do not have trouble with vision on that side. While the slight drooping might linger, I would have a little concern about the vision problem. Your might want to get checked by an eye doc. It could be the drooping lid that's causing the vision problems, but it could also be something else entirely. Keep us informed. Hugs and good wishes, Kris
