Hysterical Elation after CH

When the Headache goes in the middle of the cluster, and there is that brief moment when suddenly all the pain just stops, does anyone else feel suddenly washed over with euphoria. I get those moments when the pain suddenly goes, I start giggling, talking a lot and generally being the life and soul of the party ( usually just Rachel and myself in the bedroom, her emotionally drained from watching me and me having the party!). Does this make sense, or did I really do myself some damage when I was a teenager? James, *6 days cigarette free*

"usually just Rachel and myself in the bedroom" Maybe THAT explains the elation....

LOL... Maybe, I phrased that wrong! What I mean is that point immediately as the pain goes. You know, one minute, wishing someone would cut the side of your head off, the next minute finding that you can see without screaming. It's often easier to explain face to face, you know. Sometimes it's easy to get misquoted. Although being quoted out of context does make for interesting responses. Thanks vig, James

I was just kidding. I know EXACTLY what you mean... One minute hell... the next... the few times I've been around people.... I just turn to them and say: "and then it's gone" and I'm back to normal, not necessarily elated, but quite relieved.

LOL... The wife found it funny I was discussing the bedroom on-line! Elation is probably the wrong word. It's just that complete change from agony to nothing is unlike anything else. just good I'm not on my own with that one! Cheers vig, james

| That's great Vig, I was thinking the same thing when I read that. I do know your feeling though James. Sometimes I am just exhausted. Sometimes I am just wicked excited. If I have a day, or a few hours of the day, when I have been pain free then my wife really notices. She is excited to be with me, because I am probably more exciting to be with. Still, that doesn't mean you didn't do damage to yourself as a teenager... Casey

Yes. I think it's pretty common. It's an endorphin rush.

Yeah , I feel a natural high afterwards. The world is a beautiful place and so are all that live upon it .......... (lasts about 5 minutes) It's the only positive thing to come out of this 'madness'

I know what you mean. It's short-lived but wonderful. I describe the end of a cluster attack as the pain just draining away very fast. Better than sex at the time. Charlie

Yes, I have experienced this. It is so weird how fast they disappear.

I feel like I have been run over by 100 tractor trailer trucks!!! They physically and emotionally exhaust me. Most times after I have to take a nap cause I am so worn out and than sometimes after I wake up from the nap Im right back into another one. There is no elated feeling for me.

Yeah, it makes sense. Kinda like the Lil Moron that kept hitting himself in the head with a hammer.........because it felt so good when he quit.

| Yep, That's exactly it Bob, I think (cos since being diagnosed (Sep '04) I've not been hit (cos my last cluster was late coming in July after a massage to relieve shoulder tension cos my wife was overdue with our first born so expecting now late october instead of nov)) I've only seriously managed to deal with Kip 8+ with knowledge that if I wait long enough through this pain i will LAUGH!!! But only when I get through it! (I apologize for what may appear as over parenthesis on my explanation) Laughter and smiles are a good thing, especially the real thing, like the ones with a painful tear still in your eye. james PFDAN to all!

I have this elation after most CH. When I'm at work, I worry they think I'm on drugs, because the difference between how I feel one minute and the next, when the pain is gone, is like night and day. I am so happy and in such a good mood. They can tell I'm feeling like shit, and then when it's over, I'm practically bouncing off the walls. Sweet relief. There's nothing like it.
