Am I cronic or episodic? Not sure.

Undecided I am a "Baby Clusterhead" so to speak. From what I've read about the two, I am still unclear as to where I fall (besides my floor on a regular basis).

I realize we are not doctors but y'all are definately more "experienced" than I am. So some input would be helpful.

My attacks started in January of this year.
I have been going steady since the with a 1 week remission and a 1 1/2 week remission, one in May and the other in July.
I have 8-12 a day ranging from KIP 6-9 with the occasional 5 or 10.
Other than through the night, I get my first one at 10:00-10:30am, the second at 1:30-2:00pm and then we're off.
They last anywhere from 5min-45min with occasional
1-2hour marathons.
From 1:30pm-midnight I get 7-11 attacks.
CryIf you do the math and factor in the lengths.... YEAH.... that's right, usually about a 5-15 minute break. Whick leaves not room for imitrex or hospital visits for oxygen (none at home yet...coming today THANK GOD!!!).

What do y'all think cronic or episodic? Or is it too soon too really tell? With it only being 8months and not much of a pattern, it may be.

Episodic by definition, but looks like chronic in the making to me...

No, I haven't. I am just 'newly' being treated after getting the usual runaround of mis-diagnosis. What is it? Is it for preventative or abortive?

Essentially have to have attacks for more than 1 year without remission or with remission lasting less than 1month to be considered Chronic.

Only time will tell.  Hopefully you get relief!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there fun bobbi

Sounds like not funbobbi to me Sad life sounds tough!

Doesn't appear that either applies, sounds more like either paroxysmal hemicrania or chronic paroxysmal hemicrania or a  condition called Idiopathic stabbing headache

http://www.ninds.nih.gov/health_and_medical/disorders/paroxysmal_hemicra nia.htm

Do you get a runny nose/eyes or other symptoms as well? If so, there is also a possibility of SUNCT syndrome, which is rarer.
Have you seen a neuro?

Most good neuros will do an indomethacin therapeutic trial at the outset for most patients whose headache duration may suggest one of these conditions as they are all indomethacin responsive, and in the case of PH/CPH there is a 100% success rate.

Has to be worth a few days of your life to try it as that is all it takes to work if it is going to work

Because of the duration and frequency of your attacks, I was thinking it sounds more like CPH as in the post above.  Indocin is a very strong NSAID but it will stop CPH dead in it's tracks.  CPH is also more common in women than men so I always encourage everyone, but especially ladies, to try the indo first just to rule out CPH.  Also indo is cheap.
