Meds and clusters!

I have talked about this before and was reminded by another clusterhead yesterday.
I was chronic for over 22 years. The first 10 years they didn't know whhat they were and I was given every pain med you can think of. Chill pills you name it they gave it to me. We all know those drugs don't work. Welll once they found out what I had I used o2 and ran to the ER for help that i never got just drugs. Then I found ch.com and imitrex and veripmil  nurotin all spelled wrong I am sure. Any way When I had to do chemo I had to stop all drugs. I became eposodic  FOR the longest I thought it was the chemo but when I got hit again I did not go back to any proventive cause if it doesn't provent it then what good is it? So I just use imitrex now. Seems like instead of months of clusters I only have maybe three weeks and the attacks do not seem as bad either.
I notice that a lot of you up your doses of vermil and meds have you ever thought of owering the dose?  I think its change that helps and that don't always mean making the dose higher.
Just thought I might share this to ya'll and see what ya'll think.
I know things are different with different people. It might be worth a try.

Have a good day all!

Elaine--

I started a thread a few weeks back where I had completely removed all my preventatives & abortives with astonishing results. As  a chronic I think I had 'all I could take' and just dropped everything. As a result there was a reduction in frequency, duration, and pain. Amazing really.

Only item in my arsenal now is O2 and expletives!

I've asked the same question in a roundabout way in a couple of posts.......is taking all these drugs helping or is it making it worse?

At this point I am taking Inderal and neurontin.  The inderal I have asked to go off of, but a couple of times I have had a bp on the higher side (used to always have low bp until I had my son and got PITH Preg induced Hyper-Tension) so they wont take me off the BP drug even though I have been on it for almost a year and it has ot helped the HA at all. The Neurontin is new (only been taking it 2 months) and it is a low dose compared to others (only 400mg a day) and a notice that at least not all of the HA I get are as intense as they used to be. I still get some really bad ones, but at least not everyone knocks me on my ass.   The topoman and gabitril did nothing for me but make me sick.  So I can deffinatly see how less meds is a good thing. Still cant convise any docs to give me O2. Hopeing the Neuro will listen.  And I Have my Trex NS to abort when absolutly needed.  I dont want to end up with more medication then I have. I use some herbal remedies as well, which I am not sure at this point of it is the herbal or the neurontin that seems to be helping because I started them about the same time.  Really dont even want to think about Lithium if I dont have to.  Frightening to think that I am 7 weeks away from being having these for a year.  It is sad to think how much time this has taken from my kids...  Cry Thank you all for helping me keep my sanity over the past year.

My doc just lowered my Verap - Wed, she basicly just said the same things you are saying.

If I just take the o2  and thats all I will get hit about 3x every 24 hours, with about a 2 week peek, cycleing every 6 weeks all spring and summer.

With all meds I just seam to be shadowing all the time.

So my choices are kill myself pain every once in awhile or just plan pain maybe kip 2-3  all the time

IS THIS REALLY A CHOICE!!!! pokeeye
