I work some really messed up hours and i was wondering if anyone know if lack of sleep can trigger Ch's? I work until about 12 midnight on friday nites and then I go home and go to bed(m and pray that I have no demon visit's) then I have to get up at 5 am to be back to work at 6am. This week I had 2 attacksin the middle of the night and got about an hour and a half total sleep. Then I got about a level 8 in the KIP at about 12 pm on Sat. I had to go home and it increased to a 91/2 after I got home. If lack of sleep can be a trigger for most I want to make sure before I confront my boss. Side note: I got my first Neuro appt on tues 5/4 so having O2 and the like is not an option yet any help would be GREATLY appericated PFDAN scott

Scott, For me sleep IS the trigger rather than lack of it. When I'm in a cycle I don't get much sleep because I know what's gonna happen once I doze off. I've never had much luck with it but a lot of folks here swear by Melatonin before bed. It helps get you through the REM stage and it's my understanding that's when it's most likely to hit. Might be worth a shot. Jim

Scott, Welcome. There is a ton of info on this site that would answer all your questions. I know it is hard to research when you are in cycle...but check out what you can. Bottom line is..yes. Lack of sleep, insomnia, whatever can affect your cycle. Along with a zillion things we don't know about. Insomnia can trigger your cycle per my neuro. And alot of us get hit especially during the night, even if we work normal hours or don't work at all. Stick around. Good luck with your doc. Check out the OUCH site for forms to take to your doc to have him sign that are useful for an employer or others to help them understand that you are not faking and don't have migraines or a sinus headache. There are forms for ER visits too. Welcome to the board...Little Deb

| SAME HERE I haven't slept in DAYS now. (None). I don't have a problem with staying up for many days straight. (Longest being 7 days). Sleep deprivation may help lower the amount of attacks I have. Unsolved

The hypothalumus produces seratonin to regulate our sleep, which explains why (for me)after nightly CH, just as I begin to doze off again wham!! they hit again, and then again.!! I think that there must be a link between seratonin and testosterone.?kol

sleep and beast .. .wham in REM . . .wham without sleep . . .wham if sleep cycle (or what my clusterhead has for a sleep cycle) is disrupted . . . Of course, when the night beast is hitting over and over in the 'regular' sleep cycle, D changes it up and changes his sleep time, in an effort to throw the beast a curve ball. *positive light and energy* miapet btw, when you go to the neuro, take as much information with you as possible . . .when you are prepared, you have the best shot with any doc. mia
