for the past month and the half i've been suffering from headaches, for that time period it was extremely minor, i mean some times late at nite it would hurt so bad, but it would pass, and i assumed like all headaches i've had in my life it would eventually leave after a couple days, but it didn't... i assumed it was probably just stress, i mean my ex-fiancee broke up with me before, i have no place really to go, and i stay with her... i thought maybe it's because i sleep on the couch, but i've had these headaches before i was moved to the couch, so that can't be it, because we shared a bed after we broke up until the past 3 weeks, the headaches been 6, and well i figured the intensity has been due to me changing my sleep pattern taking a 3rd shift job two weeks ago, but it doesnt' explain that month before i still had the headache, i don't know what it is, i mean i searched online and found clusters, but i'm not a doctor, but i mean all the symptoms are what i'm going through, and besides the fact i was once diagnosed with bipolar and clinical depression, it makes me think maybe it had been idle in my head for a long time, but that's why i'm always so down... i don't know, i want to know, i hate seeing doctors, but regular headache medicine doesn't work, the pain seems to come mostly when i try to sleep, and so i can't, i just want the pain to stop and to have a decent amount of sleep, i've never had a headache that caused me to cry so much, i hate it, i really don't know what to say... the pain is concentrated right above my right eye, everything's gotten blurry in that eye too, i can feel the pain right now, but it's semi bearable, but once i lay down, it hurts so bad, i really don't know what to say, i just want help really, oh yeah my ears are always popping like i'm on an airplane, i don't know if that has anything to do with it... i really don't know what to say, it's just finding this really freaked me out, and i don't want to say i have it, because how can i know, but if i do, how can you stand it? this has been the worst week of my life, i'm tired, my head hurts, i just want  rest and i can't have it... please email with any information @ ghishstix@yahoo.com

i would really appreciate it, and any rememedies you think might help me, i really don't have the finances and insurance since i moved out here to see a doctor, and my once trusted excedrin isn't getting the trick done anymore...  oh also man i keep forgetting all the things i'm feeling, but like the whole right side of my face... like my right ear will feel numb
and my fillings in the right side of my mouth
will turn ultra sensitive, i mean they were sensitive before, but now it's to an unbearable point... i really want to hear i'm just freaking out and it's a normal headache and it will pass, i cant' tell, i just want it to stop! ugh i'm just blabbing, i'm sorry guys, i'm so glad i found this site though, i really need some insight...

thanks for your time, it is highly appreciated,

Read up. Especially about oxygen. You need to go see a good neuro that specializes in headaches as soon as you can unless you want to "tough it out", and it doesn't sound like you're so good at that right now. So get to the doc!

Aside from that, for under $200 you should be able to get a tank of O2 and a regulator from a welding shop that will most likely give you relief.

I use a welding tank and regulator, and pull straight off the hose, and it kills my headaches within minutes. There's a chance it may not work for you, but more than likely it will, and you will never want to be without it again. But don't smoke around it!

Scott,

From what you are describing I can't be sure they are clusters. Read the links to the left. Take the Cluster quiz. And go to the OUCH website. Also read posts from this website. I think a lot of new people have a tendancy to post right away when they come here, which isn't bad, but you need to read. There is a wealth of information here.

You also NEED to see a specialist. Not a GP. You need to see a Neurologist. They run a battery of tests, ask a lot of questions, and probably will have you get cat scans and/or MRIs to rule out any brain growths, lesions, etc.

READ, READ, and READ. This and the OUCH website are the best sources of info on cluster headaches out there.

You need to find out if indeed you have cluster headaches.

Scott,
I don't know all the social resources in VA . .but I know there are some.
Find an agency that either helps with medical costs or can direct you to one that can.  In Ohio, there is a place called First Link, that acts as a 'direction giver' maybe you have something like that there?  If not, call ANY social service agency and ask them what is out there (for medical help) . . .if they say:  we don't do that here, ask them who does . ..they should have a book or listing . . .SOMEONE will be able to help you.  Here, in TX we have hospitals that are run by the county . . people have to wait a long time to be seen (I mean sit there and wait their turn) but they eventually get seen.  There are also clinics that operate on a sliding scale . . .someone can help you.
*takes her social worker hat back off (but glad she did that job for so long *g*) . . .
As for the two earlier posts . . .yep, read read read . . . .and if you are  a clusterhead . . .hopefully o2 will work for you *smiles*

O2 and see a doc. If you have no money go to the emergency room where you will be seen and make sure they know about clusters. I dont like the sound of the blurry vision symptom.

To start .. you need a kick so hard to get you back on your feet .. its time to hit the gym for starters .. you should get into weight lifting and cardio 4 days a week .. next you should cut alcohol for at least 6 months .. drink 6 liters of water daily .. buy lots of liquid advil migrain pills .. when the attack comes place your head under cold water .. you should also learn to take deep breaths all day to better have oxygyn reach all parts of your body .. relief your stress and dont think too much .. afriend of mine died of cancer at age 27 .. you are alive and that a great start .. then i think you should go see a doctor just in case if its not cluster headachess .. and if it is .. you must coop, and change your life style and get medication that will ease the pain.

Good luck bro
I will pray for you

I still wonder when one says they get pain above the eye. Very suspicious. At least that ain't what it is for me. For me it is BEHIND the eye. And much more. Not above the eye.

Not CHs.

Welcome aboard and what you describe has strong elements of clusters in that they wake you up. To me, this is one of the surer signs. If you cannot sit still or lie down is another.  I suggest you try very vigorous exercise the minute you get hit. This has worked for many.

Here is a link to a technique that worked for me:

Don't bother with OTC painkillers. They act too slow and have no real effect on CH.

Let us know how you're doing.
