One goal we should have is to get a separate ICD code for trigeminovascular headaches. That would go a long way to achieving recognition among health care workers and with insurance companies and government payors. It would also be nice to see psilocybin on the drug list. These codes are for reference to help with insurance issues: ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases) diagnosis code for Cluster Headache: 346.2 Migraine variant Alternate Descriptions: Abdominal migraine Allergic headache Allergic migraine Basilar migraine Bing-Horton syndrome Ciliary neuralgia Cluster headache Histamine cephalgia Histamine migraine Horton's histamine cephalgia Horton's neuralgia Lower half migraine Menstrual migraine headaches Migraine syndrome Migrainous neuralgia Mixed migraine Periodic migrainous neuralgia Periodic vascular headache Retinal migraine With a fifth digit: 346.20 not noted as intractable. 346.21 intractable. Common HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) codes for oxygen: E0424 STATIONARY COMPRESSED GASEOUS OXYGEN SYSTEM, RENTAL; INCLUDES CONTAINER, CONTENTS, REGULATOR, FLOWMETER, HUMIDIFIER, NEBULIZER, CANNULA OR MASK, AND TUBING E0430 PORTABLE GASEOUS OXYGEN SYSTEM, PURCHASE; INCLUDES REGULATOR, FLOWMETER, HUMIDIFIER, CANNULA OR MASK, AND TUBING E0431 PORTABLE GASEOUS OXYGEN SYSTEM, RENTAL; INCLUDES PORTABLE CONTAINER, REGULATOR, FLOWMETER, HUMIDIFIER, CANNULA OR MASK, AND TUBING E0434 PORTABLE LIQUID OXYGEN SYSTEM, RENTAL; INCLUDES PORTABLE CONTAINER, SUPPLY RESERVOIR, HUMIDIFIER, FLOWMETER, REFILL ADAPTOR, CONTENTS GAUGE, CANNULA OR MASK, AND TUBING E0435 PORTABLE LIQUID OXYGEN SYSTEM, PURCHASE; INCLUDES PORTABLE CONTAINER, SUPPLY RESERVOIR, FLOWMETER, HUMIDIFIER, CONTENTS GAUGE, CANNULA OR MASK, TUBING AND REFILL ADAPTOR E0439 STATIONARY LIQUID OXYGEN SYSTEM, RENTAL; INCLUDES CONTAINER, CONTENTS, REGULATOR, FLOWMETER, HUMIDIFIER, NEBULIZER, CANNULA OR MASK, & TUBING E0440 STATIONARY LIQUID OXYGEN SYSTEM, PURCHASE; INCLUDES USE OF RESERVOIR, CONTENTS INDICATOR, REGULATOR, FLOWMETER, HUMIDIFIER, NEBULIZER, CANNULA OR MASK, AND TUBING E0441 OXYGEN CONTENTS, GASEOUS (FOR USE WITH OWNED GASEOUS STATIONARY SYSTEMS OR WHEN BOTH A STATIONARY AND PORTABLE GASEOUS SYSTEM ARE OWNED), 1 MONTH'S SUPPLY = 1 UNIT E0442 OXYGEN CONTENTS, LIQUID (FOR USE WITH OWNED LIQUID STATIONARY SYSTEMS OR WHEN BOTH A STATIONARY AND PORTABLE LIQUID SYSTEM ARE OWNED), 1 MONTH'S SUPPLY = 1 UNIT E0443 PORTABLE OXYGEN CONTENTS, GASEOUS (FOR USE ONLY WITH PORTABLE GASEOUS SYSTEMS WHEN NO STATIONARY GAS OR LIQUID SYSTEM IS USED), 1 MONTH'S SUPPLY = 1 UNIT E0444 PORTABLE OXYGEN CONTENTS, LIQUID (FOR USE ONLY WITH PORTABLE LIQUID SYSTEMS WHEN NO STATIONARY GAS OR LIQUID SYSTEM IS USED), 1 MONTH'S SUPPLY = 1 UNIT QF PRESCRIBED AMOUNT OF OXYGEN EXCEEDS 4 LITERS PER MINUTE (LPM) AND PORTABLE OXYGEN IS PRESCRIBED QG PRESCRIBED AMOUNT OF OXYGEN IS GREATER THAN 4 LITERS PER MINUTE(LPM) QH OXYGEN CONSERVING DEVICE IS BEING USED WITH AN OXYGEN DELIVERY SYSTEM HCPCS for medications/alphabetical list: http://www.cms.hhs.gov/providers/pufdownload/drug2004.pdf

No, it's not a headache--it's a Stage Ten Primary Chronic Periodic Idiopathic Trigeminovascular Cephalalgic Crisis.

Thomas, That is exactly what is written on my O2 prescription ICD-9 346.2 What is the difference between stationary and portable. I am going to get a "J" tank, suppose to be 5' tall. Being that it is being delivered, I'd guess that is portable. What would be considered stationary? Thanks for the post. Kevin M
