I am to the point now that I feel I can say that alcohol itself is not a trigger for me, but beer, wine (red) and rum are definate triggers for me. Duration of an attack though does not seem affected for me...the severity is normally extreme from these triggers. I have no idea why these act as triggers for me, but these trigger in less than 30 minutes from the time consumption begins. Chris

Chris, I don't know anything about the Rum as far as a trigger, but beer and red wine have higher levels of tyramine than other types of alcohols. I know if you ever had to take a MAOI, which would be uncommon for CH, but common for other types of headaches, beer (especially tap beers and nondomestic bottled and canned beer) is banned, and so is red wine due to high levels of tyramine. Are there any other foods that trigger attacks for you? ~Lizzie

| Dont drink for the first 5 times. I've seen it her a thousand times. Finally got a good neuro! My meds are working! Finally got to sleep ! Thanks for all the good vibes. Great suggestions! But fuck all of that I want to have a drink. Why anyone will jeapordize any PF time when they know they are vulnerable to alcohol is beyond me . "I can't live with the pain but pass me a Bud Lite" If booze is a trigger and you continue to test the beast then I guess your pain can't be that bad.

It also may explain how a few people are apparently able to "outdrink" their HA. (That never worked for me and I don't recommend trying it. LOL)

Ouch, Brain Cramps said it best, Also, not a real good idea to drink while in cycle as a general rule, If you are a chronic sufferer, then I reckon it makes no difference, and by all means do not deprive yourself of life's pleasures ( ya only live once ya know). Me? I'm calling myself out of cycle and gonna get reaaaal shitty at the meet n greet next month. Ramon

Ouch, I don't know why, but I know some alcohol triggers, and some doesn't. For purly scientific reasons, I have been conducting tests these past few days. The preliminary results are as follows: Gin (as in VERY dry martinis) does not trigger for me. Even after a LOT of them. Drambui, does not trigger Rum (especially Bacardi's 151) DEFINATE trigger. Beer is not a trigger. The above findings are only valid for the subject under test, and YMMV. Further testing is fully planned for the next few days. After all, in order for this to be a valid experiment, the tests must be run again and again and again and again and again .... Hic!!! Shyuck..k..k... (burp!)
