Does anyone have 'sore spots'?

I have some tender areas on my head. When I grow my hair out, on the right side it feels like needles sticking in my scalp. I don't even like for anyone to touch my head - and when you're bald everybody wants to rub yer head fer luck!
My right browbone is sore, the temple area and the back of my head at the base of the skull. It feels like it is severely bruised, and if it had any outer signs, it would be black and blue and purple.
Anybody else have sore spots?

Maybe not sore spots dude but I remember a chick about four years ago posting that it hurt to even touch her hair....said something like "Shingles in my head" whatever that means....I have no idea what shingles are.

I have a sore spot now.  At the base of my skull on the right side.  I think it is where I rub the hell out of my head when I am hit.

Sometimes my browbone will be sore too.  I just think the nerve endings go all haywire or something.

What is Shingles?
Shingles is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the virus that causes chickenpox. Shingles occurs in people who have had chickenpox and represents a reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. The disease generally affects the elderly, although it occasionally occurs in younger and/or immunodeficient individuals. The first sign is usually a tingling feeling, itchiness, or stabbing pain on the skin. After a few days, a rash appears as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face. The rash develops into small, fluid-filled blisters which begin to dry out and crust over within several days. When the rash is at its peak, symptoms can range from mild itching to extreme and intense pain. Contact with a person with shingles may cause chickenpox (but not shingles) in someone who has never had chickenpox before.

One of my neighbors had shiingles, she said it was extremely painful.

Yeah, I've got a sore spot in my head and I'm not even bald. But it does feel bruised most of the time.

Hot showers help some, but it comes back after I cool down. I rub my head a lot but can't stand for anyone else to do so.

Guess it's just something else we have to put up with.

Carl,

Sometimes I think that that particular type of pain (I get it to) is from all of the wincing and cringing that we do when that MF'er shows up! Head hanging to one side, wincing, cringing, clenched jaws, whatever we do, all contributes to that afterpain. JMHO

Peace,

Carl D.

Anytime after a KIP 10 the ol' head hurts like hell for quite awhile. Slowly just turns to a slight tingling sinsation which is almost always present during a cycle.

My son had shingles. Hurts like hell. Lasted about 2 months. His where mostly on the side of his waist. They can occur just about anywhere.

I've got the sore browbone and a softspot at my temple on the right side (my cluster side).  I think the softspot is from so many years of me trying to drive my fingers through my skull during a cluster. Cry

I have a major sore spot too...the worst one is at my temple on the right side of my head.  There is actually a big bump there where I think the muscle has bulged from clenching it in pain??  I don't know.  But if I touch it or massage at it, it can bring me to tears it is so sore!!  I take zanaflex (muscle relaxer) to see if that will help reduce the pain sometimes...and it does a little bit.  The muscle is only sore and larger on the side where I get my headaches.  My neuro injected it with nerve block once, but that made it worse and hurt like hell!  I wouldn't recommend!

I know with migraines, you can get pain in your hair, face, skin...pain known as allodynia.  Your hair will actually hurt during a bad headache.  Many migraineurs have short hair and don't wear makeup or jewelry if they experience this type of pain.  I've had it a few times with migraines, and I just don't wear makeup.  I pull my hair up most of the time so it is off my neck and face.  I'm not sure how or if allodynia plays a role in clusters, though.  I will have to look it up.

Yes, but I had a "touchy" scalp long before clusters.
Can't stand to comb my hair from one side to another, it gives me a pain in the scalp!

Last cycle I had the same problem (first time). It felt like my head had to have been black and blue but nothing was there! I say be glad you have no hair, because at that point any movement of the hair and I thought I would jump out of my skin!!! Also this only happen twice both after kip 10's. and it lasted at least 24 hours

After a hard night of "dancing" the left side of my head feels like someone hit me with a shovel...always sore to the touch.
My doc says that soreness shows you how much inflamation these things are causing.

My hair is VERY sore during a CH cycle.  Even the thought of touching it makes me wince.
