NEWSFLASH Our news has just flashed up that Saddam Hussein has just been captured alive!! Let's hope that makes some of the resistance reduce at least. Wendy the reporter described it as "a joyful moment for just about everyone on the planet"

Way Coolness. After they pump out the lice so they can find a way to install CH, stick him back in the hole and give him a lesson in "water sports." MOC

He is not a soldier of a hostile nation. I may be wrong but if memory serves he actually has never been a soldier in Iraq's either. Prison then the Baath party is the short of it. Look under the relevent sections for leaders of a soverian nation. Of course IANAL. You are welcome to use that for debate points though. TTFN

I suppose the next question is where does he go on trial? Iraq where there is no legal system left because he got rid of it? The Hague, which he wouldn't recognise nor has he signed any of the treaties? The USA, where I expect there will be a general wish for the death penalty if he is found guilty? Great Britain where we would probably lock him up somewhere nice with a telly, DVD and full creature comforts? IANAL- what do you think? Wendy

Wendy, I think you have to let the Iraqis themselves try Saddam. If you do it outside Iraq I think you risk turning him into a martyr. The trial will be interesting. If he survives.
