My "Sponsored Beg" Yesterday!!

well..
Yesterday as I promised all who sponsored me, I went out onto a well known street in Nashville all by my self with a sign and a Ouch UK charity box. Had leaflets and Literature in hand to pass out.
I had quite a time let me tell you. I saw the two different sides of human nature.
First let me tell you the nice stories. I had some people stop and read my sign,put a few pennies in my box take the literature and walk away reading it. I had a few people who only had credit cards on them, but stopped any way and talked with me and took the literatue. One guy stopped and told me his father had cluster headaches, shook my hand and said "god bless you for doing this" So I did manage to educate quite a few people who didn't have a clue about our condition.
Now...to the other side of the coin...
Even though I had official leaflets with me
an official charity box....leaflets'''sweater....
I was told twice to...I quote "%uck off"
Numerous times to "get a job" .... "scam"... "How much of that are you keeping for yourself"
I had several hand flicks.
I knew this would be hard , but I had no Idea how cruel and nasty people could be.
But the funniest story of the day.
A well dressed middle aged man approched and I smiled and he started to read my sign, I explained, what I was doing, he began to reach in his pocket and I heard his change. He said " what is it for?" I explained again.
"Oh, yeah" he said. "My mother in law gets cluster headaches" AND STARTS TO WALK AWAY. I said "Well do you not want to give 5cents to the charity then?
"Nah!" he said, and off he went!!! My mouth hit the floor.
But here is something for you all to remember. There were two men on seperate ocassions who put more money than any one else in the box.....TWO HOMELESS MEN! They stopped and read my sign. I didn't ask them for money.
I went through a lot yesterday for a piddly$38.18 a lot of insults and abuse.
but I have raised over $1323.18 in sponsorship money (It will will be over $1500 after sterling) and I thank every one for that.
For evey one that promised to sponsor me...you can either, send an international money order to

BRAVO Poppet!!! I'll be the first to admit your braver then I am. The first person who said the nasty remarks would have been clocked and HARD too. The ones who gave you the "one finger wave" would have had broken fingers! Im just no good at that kind of stuff. But hey I admit it! LMAO Im proud of ya gal!! Ya did GREAT!!!
