Clomid…Throwing the Beast for a Loop

Not only did the clomid send my pharmacist for a loop it has also confused the beast. Since the 24th of July I have had 6 headaches a day, approx 900, they range from a kip 5 to a kip 10 depending on the meds I’m on. So far I’ve been on prednisone, 3 tappers, verapamil had to quit from side effects, indomethacine, toprol (beta blocker), medrol (another steroid), DHE-45 self inject, zomig, replex, frova, imitrex, amerge, maxalt. Oh and tried some lidocaine block through the nose, didn’t help, percoset, won't even go there, and a few others I can't remember. Gone through two GP’s, two neurologists working with my third. Waiting to see specialist who treats and supposedly researchers cluster headaches at KU medical center. Have appointment in January. My life has turned to pure hell, the beast has about got me whipped. In the last four weeks I’ve gotten 19 , 18 ½ , 16 ½ & 21 hours of sleep. I’ve gone from 210 pounds done to 185 pounds. My kids no longer know their father. My wife no longer knows her husband. I leave the house for the office (its only five minutes from the house) in the middle of the night knowing I don’t want to fight the beast at home. I sleep no longer than 1 ½ hours at a time (must be that rem thing). Even 10mg of melotonin doesn’t help, except to get me to sleep very quickly. With the help of CLUSTERHEADSACHES.COM I’ve gone to deciding what medications I should be taking. I now go to neurologist and tell him what we are going to try. This site and you all with your experience have been a godsend. You and your posts have got me through plenty of sleepless nights. For that I thank you all and DJ. Currently I’m taking: Topomax 200 mg/day (anti seizure), Lexapro 20mg/day (SSRI), Melatonin 20mg/day, Lithium 900 mg/day (prevantive/choline enhancer), Clomid 50mg/day(testosterone stimulator/hypothalamus) . Oxygen to abort. Started the Topomax about two weeks ago, along with the lithium, started the melatonin last Sunday, the lexapro last Thursday and the clomid yesterday. Good news is, in four months, yesterday was the first day that I’ve skipped two headaches in a row. I skipped the 4:00 and the 8:00. I only slightly and I mean slightly shadowed during these times. The bad news, just like clock work one hour and half after I fell asleep I awoke to a KIP 9. It seems as though I might have confused the beast for a moment. But only for a moment. I’m starting to wonder If there is only one way to truly kill the beast !!!!! Hootchdom.

My appointment with the specialist is for mid January. If I don’t get the answers I’m looking for then, I hope to have the spores grown and I’m going for a trip if you know what I mean. I would have tried it by now if they were more readily available. Wish I was still in my college days

| Hootchdom, I ditto Mast!! Don't give up! Some day there will be a way to get rid of the beast, rather than the way that you are suggesting! A lot of us have been at that mind set, at one time or another, but we still try other things as soon as we find out about them. So i suggest you go to that site that Mast suggested and atleast read about it, because who knows, it may be the thing for you. Stay strong my friend, and fight the bastard, and kick its ass......That's most of our attitudes around here!! PFDAN to ya.......Mikey,

Two day relief....I am truly blessed. I wondered if you had tried the 100% oxygen thearpy? I saw mention of all the drugs you had tried, some of them I have used, some unknowns, however these past two days using oxygen at the onset of an attack has done wonders. It is not very expensive to at least give it a try. I hope you find relief for many more days and nights.
