Saw them when I lived in Iceland, but they were pretty faint and it was cold. Wish I were there now.

Wow, Tara, were you in Norway ??? You can see them from Norway, Iceland, Antartica. When I went to Norway, I prayed to see them ..... but they never came. Best time to see them is Nov/Dec I think. And I was there for Thanksgiving. Stared out the skylight all night long thinking I might catch a glimpse of them. Alas, now I need to go back and see if I can catch them the next time around. My brother, who moved to Norway just a few weeks ago has seen them already. Said it is awsome !

Jonny if she gets a good pic of them I will definately post them. Nancy I'm in New Hampshire so seeing them here was a rare thing, it's got something to do with the flares the sun is putting off right now I believe. Grant for some reason I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights, I remember the first time I ever really thought about them was after reading Pet Cemetary By Steven King when I was a teenager. Then a couple years ago I watched the movie Frequency with my mom the Northern Lights were a main part of that movie and my mom was saying how amazing it would be to see them in real life and it struck me cause I had felt that way too.......So seeing them tonight was just really amazing to me, don't know why just was.

They are an AWSOME sight to behold! I saw them, when I was in the US Navy (about 634 years ago, I think) stationed on a ship that was operating north of the Artic Circle. I was a Radioman on board the ship, and when they were around, they knocked out all communications. VERY impressive! They reminded me of a long flowing curtain, fluttering in the breeze. Somewhere, I do have pictures, but I haven't the faintest idea of where to find them! Sorry, folks! Chuck

WOW WOW WOW I have never even heard of this...I always thought Northern Lights had something to do with religion - but WOW - THAT is COOL! I just spent the last 45 min- hour reading about them... (thanks for the links Taraana and Ueli!) That is sooo cool! I love the pictures. How lucky are you people that get to see this on a normal basis!! You probably take it for granted.. huh? I would LOVE to see one... just one. I am gonna make Ramon take me someone one day so I can see one! Until then.. i got some nice pics for my computer!!! THANKS!! Tina - (the idiot!)

According to the news reports, due to solar flares from the sun this week. The "northern lights" should have been viewable as far south as Texas. Awesome picks. ~juvy
