Hi! I started yesterday a new chapter in my battle againts ch: prednisolon 40 mg treatment. This is supposed to stop the cycle... I'm not jumping of joy yet. My head felt weird whole yesterday, my back hurted like hell and I felt, well, swelling on my tummy. Well, it was piece of cake in comparison to ch, anyway. Now, on day 2, I feel energetic! Hyper! Swollen, yes, but it's okay. Four-week treatment and we'll see what happends... I do hope that this one actually works... Keep your thumbs up for me, okay? Best wishes & PF days, sandie99

Hi Sandie, Hope this works for you. Just be careful with Prednisone, it can be a mean medication. Although a few people have had success with it. I'm now tapering off it, should be done by the 25th. I can identify with the side effects you mention. I started on 80mg's, which was raised to 120mg's. I wasn't taking it for CH though (and even at those high dosages, it didn't stop the CH attacks, but that's just me.) I've heard from people on both sides about Prednisone. Just a head's up, if it doesn't work, you'll still have to taper off it, your doc should give you a schedule to do this. I'll spare you what it's done to me, since I've never reacted well to any medications I've tried, and also because it has worked for others. I'll add a link to commonly asked questions about Prednisone. This isn't to scare you, just want you keep safe. You'll notice you're already experiencing some of the side effects like the stomach and swollen areas. This stuff will make you want to eat more than usual, I couldn't stop no matter how full I got. So try to monitor your eating as best you can. Probably want to get some anti-acids as well, this will help ease some of the stomach problems. Prilosec has been working pretty well for me there. Sure hope you're another one we can add to the list of people this med has worked for, Best of luck! Dave http://www.myasthenia.org/information/prednisone.htm
