Have you tried nerve blocking?

After 16 years of CH, but only 5 years of appropriate diagnosis, and, after 1 month of the worst CH I've ever had (last episode 5 years ago), I am going to try a nerve blocking surgery on a face nerve. Doctor says there are no big side effects (most that can happen is loosing some sensitiveness on your palate) and that 3 out of 5 patients get life lasting relief, worth to try isn't it? More chronic cases are likely to try trgemin nerve blocking, however you actually loose sesitiveness on one half of your face after the surgery.

What kind of nerve blocking are you talking about? Is this surgery you're speaking of? If so you'd best think again if you're episodic.... Trust me on this one... I've had the surgery... and it ain't that simple. Yes, one side of my face is numb and there are a FEW other side effects that MY doc DID warn me about before hand, but I was chronic and it was a LAST resort. And it doesn't work in all cases. Mine was an 80/20 shot and I lost - it did NOT work and I had good odds. Guess what I'm trying to say is -- Before they start messin' with your head - think about it long and hard... then do what you gotta do... Hugs BD

| Hello and welcome, this “operation” was proposed to me 6 years ago in a neurologic clinic in Milan. But then... they decided not to operate because in many cases situation get worser. In Italy this operation is no more used. PFDAN, Zaira
