The Weekend Tornado

Now, you THINK you got problems? Let me tell you about MY weekend......

Last night the Two year OLD TORNADO (my grandson Caleb) descended upon our household. This child is totally hyper, can be in 50 places at once, is faster than a speeding bullet, and bounces off walls. Granny is having a CH, Papaw is waiting for Granny to tend to The Tornado and Daddy is just sitting waiting for Mama to do her Mama thing (wait on him hand and foot like mama's do).

About midnight, Granny (after the cafegot took effect) convinced everyone it was time TO GO TO BED NOW!!! The Tornado, of course, had to sleep with Granny, so that was fun. He sleeps ALL over the bed.

Granny only had a shadow this morning, because the Wake Up Patrol had his nose on Granny's nose about 5am and then we awoke the rest of the household cause we began bouncing off walls and getting the dogs really awake good enough to go outside and wake the neighbors.

Daddy and Papaw had some things to tend to in another town so Granny and Caleb have been baking cookies all morning. Thank goodness the beast has been afraid of Caleb and has stayed pretty well in the background this morning. We've baked and baked and baked. We also did the laundry and cleaned the house (he's also a "neatnik".) I've had to go through the trash and retrieve most of my computer stuff - why do you need a mouse pad?

Now the little darling has decided to take a NAP! And Granny is taking a rest.... But I know it's only temporary, but just like with CH - you take the quiet time when you get it.    LOL!!

I think I was much younger when I was raising his Daddy........

Know what you're talking about Barb!
Had the grandkids up here about 2 months ago, fortunately before I got this illness!
The bouncing off walls, crying, whining, running all over just watching is enough to drain you. There were 3 of them!
So yes, I am thinking of you and how you're holding up, how long a workout do you still have ahead?
It's always great to see them, but sure a relief when the quiet comes back  Wink

I know EXACTLY what you mean about tornadoes!!  We have nicknamed our family room Tornado Alley.

I have a one year old boy and a 3 year old  girl and on days when they bing off the walls (usually after some kind and caring person <daddy> gives them sugar) I simply repeat over and over...

I love my children, I love my children, I love my children.

I would be happy to let you borrow this mantra during your grandkids visits...you can modify it to suit your own needs.

Lots of luck!!

I can totally understand.

I live with my sister and 1yr old neice.

You know, the age when they really understand that they have a voice, and use it constantly at the highest pitch possible. talkin, screamin, squawkin.

This is good fun, when youve been sent home from work for the week because of the strongest ch cycle I have ever had.

dont you just treasure the littl'  darlin's.

OK Barbara.  I can really understand.  My 3 year old granddaughter is mine "forever".  She has been really considerate about my CHs though.  Mine is no neatnick...she's a pack rat.  If something disappears from anywhere in the house, I can usually find it in her room.  And she can tell me where to find anything in the house.  I got her at 18 months and she wasn't even walking.  She did not sit alone until she was 8 mo.  She has low muscle tone and developmental delays.  Or perhaps I should say that she "had" those conditions.  She is a real joy, but with my 2 week dark funk that I'm going through, it's really a little harder to appreciate her.

Well, the Tornado is at home with his parents now and Granny SURVIVED.....

Last night about 8:30 I looked at him and told him "Boy it would be easier to make a new one of you than it would be to CLEAN you up!!!" Geezzz! that KID was DIRTY! That should tell you - we had a GREAT FUN DAY!!

But we had a FUN shower (found Mr. Winky and had a fascinating time with HIM!) and finally got down to the bottom layer of the REAL boy underneath all the outside dirt. There was CALEB underneath. Put our Superman jammies on and Passed OUT!!!!

Granny took some more cafagot and slept well last night.

Maybe in a few weeks we can go through this again.
