I had a visit to the neuro today and it did not go very well. I am one week into my current cycle and am starting to get hit pretty hard. Last Friday night I ended up in the ER with a CH and panic attack. They did an EKG that was abnormal, they said no more DHE shots until I saw the neuro on Tues. This morning saw my GP who did another EKG, which was also abnormal. Then off to the neuro's office I went. This is what they said, I can stay on my Verapamil 480mg, Topamax 100mg, Elavil 40mg and Zyprexa 5mg(up to 20mg a day). That is it. No DHE until I see a cardioloist. Then they asked me if I wanted to participate in a study using Depacon/Depakote. They give you 1000mg of Depacon IV push for three days and 1000mg of depakote orally for three days. Then for the next 6 weeks or until your cycle ends, which ever comes first, you take 2000mg of depakote orally. I still have not decided if i am going to do it or not. I am going to go over all the paper work tonight. Have a great and pain free night ;D Roseanne

Well, Roseanne, not being a doctor I am not really qualified, but looking at all the meds on your list, if I were in your shoes I'd say NO. Firmly. Too much stuff in my opinion. I'd try for the O2. Lots better for your bod than that med-cocktail. But hey, who am I? Good luck anyways

One thing you MUST do is make sure all of your doctors, GP, Neuro, whomever, is on the same page with your treatment and condition. You know the old saying: too many cooks spoil the pot. Well, you are one pot, you don't have a spare. If you are having irregularities with your EKG, then it is most likely a bad idea for you to take the DHE, as it may do more damage, or even cause a heart attack. DEFINITELY check into o2 therapy. It can't harm you, only do you good. Take care, Carl D

I agree and know even less that Ave but maybe if they get you off the other junk, it might make sense but I don't really know. Depakote just makes you hungry and you lose some hair. There aren't many success stories with Depakote so far as I can remember. Charlie

Thanks for your input. I am leaning toward not doing it. I am a little afraid of all the meds. I have tried the O2 and it does not work for me. I am really having a rough time right now. I just want something that will work(so does everyone else!) Thanks for listening! Roseannne
