In the spirit of investigation and scientific curiosity, I have found that Imitrex Nasal Spray can be administered sublingually.

Why would you do that you say? Well, as it happens I've been fighting a cold/allergies lately and when I used the NS I ended up wasting it, it got stuck in the secretions way back in my sinuses. I could breather alright so I didn't think it would be a problem. It was. It still dripped on the back of my throat for 5 hours, so not enough was absorbed.

I decided right then to try something I wondered for a long time. How about sublingually, it is the same principle (as opposed to swallowing were 20 mg is not nearly enough to be absorbed via your stomach lining. It works!!! What's better yet, I know from past experience that at some point when a 10 mg NS was available, that it was enough if I caught it early. Now I can divide up the NS and maybe with a tiny, syringe/dropper I can have twice the dose...

So if you are all stuffed up, Nasal Sprays is all you have, put it under your tongue (don't swallow) and you'll be good to go. It doesn't even burn your tongue like I thought it might. Anyway, just something new to our arsenal...

Thanks, Ozz
I've asked that question before and always wondered.
There's 5mg nasal sprays too.

Hey, Ree. Stuff in the shed? Sure why not. Actually I did try to dissolve a Verapamil pill under the tongue. Now that my friends is the most horrible tasting thing. It was so bitter, it made aspirin seem like sugar. It makes trex, amerge, zomig, seem like sugar. I stayed inside çause it was cold out and I didn't want to be stuck with my yucky face forever!! That wasn't the worst part. It felt like I had a velvet pillow stuck in my throat. The back of my throat and tongue got numb as it turns out I read in some verapamil literature that it acts as a local anesthetic, but of course now I know that....

Anyway, if you'd tried the nasal spray in the past and it didn't work for you, maybe it is your phlegm, then again, maybe snot...

No side effects. I will give it a try the next time I get hit. Too bad the Verap is working, I could try ather stuff

LOL - I can relate totally.
Alice Cooper concert at the Pageant in St Louis, MO last October...head was pounding hard (I have a couple of other probs besides CH), so I chomped on 3 Vicodin.
YUCK!
Lately, It has been "gross out your friends month" as they have watched me munch some Excedrin Migraine in hopes of quick relief. Believe it or not, after awhile the bitterness...okay I won't lie...you NEVER get used to THAT taste.

Peace,
Carl D
