Hi CC, we've tried a couple of times to get an OUCH Canada going and couldn't get much going. I think maybe we're all too busy having our Timbits, Donairs, and poutine, maybe.

Not to change the subject, but the dumb 'merican wants to know what Timbits, Donairs are. (He already knows about the poutine)

Hmmmmmm Poutine... I am so sorry for all the folks who have never had the chance to discover this incredibly fancy meal . O.U.C.H. Canada. Sounds like a good idea. From the "where we live" button, I understand we have 216 Canucks members. Pretty good base. But I guess the size of the country makes things a little harder. Standing by... miCHel

I had to look up Donairs and the definition I found is too good not to post: The Donair is spiced beef on pita bread with vegetables and a sweet sauce. The sum is greater than whole: the sliced vertical meatloaf and sauce are unique concoction and the final flavor is unlike anything else invented by man or alien. It is female - delightful, dainty and has to be eaten carefully so the sauce doesn't drip, to some it looks like the female genitalia. It is male: macho, strong, gross and Whoopie! Its sex-with-small-rodents-night! The drip is part of the experience. Every summer former Haligonians and former Maritimers return home and the first thing on their minds: where can we get a good Donair or Donair pizza -forget the lobster. Yer killing me. By the way kids we have a Tim Hortons here in Jamestown. So far as I know they don't call tiny donuts "Timbits." yet. Too bad. Hortons has the best coffee in Jamestown. Thanks Margi. Charlie

Margi: I'm glad to see you back. I was busy working out-of-town the last time this was discussed. Guess where I'm headed this weekend. The offer probably still stands for my lawyer and I can contact a guy who offered free web-space, hosting, development, etc... last winter. Anyhone else? Grant

Yes, T, there were that many Canadians registered here. I've tried getting this started a couple of times and only got a handful of responses. It is difficult here because of the different provincial regulations with regard to charitable organizations, but it can be done. With a LOT of help - not with just a few people. Catlind (an ex-pat Canadian ) has graciously offered to host a website for OUCH Canada and we did go so far as to start work on a logo. Grant has offered what he says above in this thread and Bonnie also said she'd help whereever possible. So, at this point, we've got 3 of the western provinces represented (Bonnie, BC, Me, AB, and Grant soon to be an SKer). As I said before, I've tried a few times before to get this started and am now in an extremely busy job during the day. If someone else wants to head this up, I'd be more than happy to help out West here.

THANK you, Ann!! I KNEW there was another person who offered but.....I only have fond memories of my memory nowadays. Gingko is a wonderful thing to improve your memory. But if I could only remember to take the damn thing!! Yes, Ann - you did offer.

As Ann said "Quebec is in!" That is of course if we get more money and advantages than all the other provinces form OUCH Canada... Just kidding you guys. ;D By the way, what happened to that logo? Was it completed? If not, I might be able to help there. We have several graphic artists where I work. Maybe one will help me out if I threaten her/him properly... miCHel

I am still more than willing to host a website and email account for OUCH Canada. At least it is something until things really pick up. My mom is an accountant and I think she could help us out with the charitable organization part of things. She has also run the district hospital board in Ontario so she has a fair amount of experience with the Board of Directors type BS that we all have to face. I will call her this weekend and see what she has to say about setting up a national non profit org and find out what has to be done. I may live in the US now, but I am still a Canadian citizen Cat (the prior ONtarian turned New Yorker/Nebraskan) hehe
