This one was different. I don’t know exactly how or why I think it was different but it was. At 02:39 the pain hit out of nowhere. I envisioned one of those little ‘Lamasil’ fungus creatures chewing on something behind my left eye. I went downstairs took a naproxin and started the O2, 10 minutes later it was still there. Went in the basement to make a cup of coffee to have during a scalding hot shower (my usual routine) and decided to brush my teeth since I had forgotten to when I went to bed. All of a sudden, 20 minutes after it started, the little sonofabitch stopped munching on the inside of my head, my stuffed up left nostril started running and the pain was gone.

I’m VERY glad the pain went away but I’ve never had it happen like this. Usually the pain lasts 1 ½ to 2 hours.

Is the demon jerking my chain or what?

Of course he is!!!  He is one tricky bastard!  Just listen to the different ways the bastard hits other clusterheads!!  He loves to throw a little different aspect in there just to get you wondering, and confused!!!!  He is a master of that!

And, over the years, he will change again and again.  Virtually every clusterhead I talk to mentions that the hits they get now, are different, in some way, from when they first had them.

He is a tricky, obstinate bastard!

Glad to hear he gave you at least one short one!

Keep kicking his ass!

Thanks Chuck,

I knew that the beast affects different people in different ways but I did not know that it could change that much in one cycle. I really new at this and am learning more daily.

Glad to know it's all part of the same thing. Thought I was getting goofier than I already am.

No one gets goofier than we are!!!

I have hits that last from 15 minutes (rare) to 2 hours or more.  They average out to about an hour each.

Keep fighting!

They are very unpredictable!  Mine, too, are between 15 min and 2 hrs long.  Before I was taking Verapamil, I could predict, to some extent, the length and the time frame one would hit depending on what week I was in my cycle.  Middle of the cycle always being the longest and the most intense  pain.  Now that I am on the preventive, I have fairly persistant shadows and fog, with a mild cluster breaking thru occasionally.  No rythm or ryhm like before.  I think he just likes to keep us on our toes - or shall I say, pins and needles!

Yep, that is the name of the Beast, unpredictable and one of the greatest things about having this forum to be able to share these changes with others...sure makes us wonder sometimes if it is just "in our head"...after so many years you just learn to roll with it...The Beast will make sure we don't get too comfortable...
