Does everyone have portable tanks?  When I had oxygen years ago they only gave me the tank that stands like 4 or 5 feet high (I think it's called an H tank).

Although my regulator goes up to 15, I never went above 8 lpm. Saves on O2, and that's more than my _good_ lung can handle w/o popping.

Here's where being a part of this (CH.com) is really great....

I've met some of you.  I've seen you at the OO TANK.
...with my own eyes, I SAW it work.  I KNOW it works

As soon as the neuro said it, I knew I could disregard all that he had to say, because it was either incorrect or outdated.  His credibility was gone with one flush.

Are the other doctors listening?  Do you see how important being honest to patients is?

...now HERE's a topic i can relate to...

fuhst...(damn, i just cain't quite speak Texish... Texican... Tejano... Texsperanto... aw, fuckit)

FIRST: Zaira... my dear Italian *artista* >>>if the BAG is fulla o2 everytime you take your next breath, you are getting enough o2... if it goes FLAT or if you feel like you have to  .....struggle... for the next breath, then crank it up a notch or two.....

...we are not all constructed the same... lung capacity varies... (i mean look at Dolly Parton....  Grin )

...on the other hand, if that ***NON-REBREATHER MASK*** (accept no other!!!) is about to burst, yer probably got it turned up too high..... which leads to curing headaches of yer neighbors, yer dog, and probably GLOBAL WARMING.......  Wink

..as fer the rest of these REPLIES.....they are ALL good counsel..... except MrHappy: he'll smoke one while gassin up his car..... heh.... and that's NOT_A_GOOD_IDEA(tm)... and "killin' yer neuro" ...well, have it hired out.....

Good luck.....Steve(Not4Hire)

Hey Steve....I give tutorials.... ;D

Zaira, I use 15 LPM's, and usually about 5-10 minutes.

Then I have a smoke..... Cool

Most non-rebreather masks have only one of the two exhaust ports (besides the nose) covered with a flappy disk that serves as a one-way valve. This is called a "safety feature". Through the other port you can suck in air if the flow is not quite high, and you can feel the wind of the in-rushing air on the side of your nose.

My solution: I salvage the disk of an old discarded mask and put it on the second port of my current mask. In this way I never get outside air, even at a low flow rate (8 l/min when I'm sitting, a bit higher if I walk around).
