Hi i am so glad i have found this web site and i hope it will be really useful not only for information but for support. My boyfriend of 3 years has suffered with CH for a long time and like others he does get free periods from them. I have seen him get in such a state the anger i see from him is scary, it`s like he is trying to escape the pain but can`t escape he just has to try and cope best he can till it passes. One trick he did find that was after taking painkillers he has a hot drink it`s as though it helps get the medication working faster. Anyone else found that has helped a bit? Anyway i will write more on here when i have more time, and i have told my boyfriend Dave to have a look at this site. I am also going to get him to try the water drinking. He drinks plenty of fluids during the day anyway as he sweats rather a lot and he reckons he will dehydrate if he don`t replace fluids (don`t smell though lol) just a sweaty person. Anyway thanks for a great site will read more as i go along. Thanks Joanne

Hi wildwoman.....welcome to the jungle ! Yeah you need to get Dave on the rite track fer meds.mite be a series of trial and error but alot of people here can help if you have med questions. Pain meds aren't gonna do him any good for the initial attacks and no need for him to suffer if he can get on the rite stuff that will help or work. So stick around...lots ta learn here ! Pam that hates ta see people suffer needlessly

Welcome Wildwoman...but at the same time, sorry you're here because that means another person suffering from what we do. Tell him that he's not alone and bring him here. I found out that there's lots of great people here. People that can help.

Welcome aboard WW. You have found a place full of people who know exactly what this is and how it affects everyday life. Your coming here is one of the best things you can do as you'll find some good ideas and ways to cope with this horror. Here are two links: One for a technique I found effective and a second link to a description of this disease which does a wonderful job explaining to employers and others that this has nothing to with what is thought of as a “headache.” http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/ http://www.ouch-uk.org/ch/note_colleagues.cfm The best of luck to you and let us know how things are going. There are lots of WIIIIIILD WOMEN IN HERE soooooooo WELCOME!!! Your post got to me because yes that works for Dave also. I make him Cinamon spice tea to drink when he gets hit after he takes his imatrex... He has even drank hot water... that is the wierdest thing but then what isnt wierd about CH. It is the most unusual phenomenon in the world me thinks... anyway welcome and feel free to email about your progress... love to you Ree

Welcome to the board wild woman. Read around, there's lots of great info here. If your boyfriend hasn't tried O2 or Imitrex to abort the headaches, he should try these. They are two of the most common drugs used to abort clusters. There are also drugs to try and prevent clusters ... Verapamil, Lithium ... Read around ..... you'll see all kinds of suggestions. If he tries the O2 make sure he reads the info in the button on the left ... ya have to use it right for it to work !!! Best of luck and welcome !!!!!!

Thankyou so much for all your replies, it has made me feel so welcome. I am determined to try and help him with his CH and i don`t intend on giving up. We don`t live together as yet and i sent him a text this morning and he replied saying he was having a bad head, i feel helpless as i can`t do anything for him. When he is here at least i can make him his hot drinks. Anyway thanks again Love Jo P.S I told him about drinking plenty of water and he is going to give it a try
