Photo phobic and light sensitivity

Photobics suffer from pain in the eyes caused by light sources. Now thats pretty simple. How many of us suffer from certain types of light acting as triggers? The pain usually hangs with me until two to three months after a cycle has broke. Most often after the use of a high burst of prednison, which sometimes clears them up and at other times results could be better. An opthomoligist is goin to check me out but I doubt we will find anything wrong, I'm pretty sure it's a reaction to the Meds and the Stress of the cycle. You all know this is a very supportive network...Am I the only one that cant stand the  flourscent lights, tv and especially the computer...Is their a fix to this.Told 3 docs about  it and will see what the next one says friday...Wish their was a certain pair of shades a person could get but the "eye doctor said that sunglasses do  Cooljust as well... there not working for me....any suggestions?

Hello sushi,

first, no, I am by no means photophobic and light has never been a trigger to me. But I don't know what meds you take besides pred (which I don't use) that might, as you say, just possibly cause this sensitivity.

Secondly, I do need sunglasses for driving in summer or I wind up with a blinding (normal) headache.
Last summer I forgot to take them on holiday. I kept meaning to get a pair, but my rental car had air conditioning, which I directed at my face (and eyes).
I  never had the sun-headache and was never blinded.
The cold air kept my eyes cool and vision was perfect.

So maybe that is something you could try, cooling your eyes. At least while driving...

Good luck

Flourescent lights freak me out, big time! They flicker constantly and it feels like I am under strobe lights. If I stay under them for too long, they will trigger either a migraine or a CH for me.

After a nasty CH, the eye on the affected side seems unable to focus correctly and the computer and the tv can be quite a chore.

I never was never able to wear sunglasses, because I could always see the reflection of my eyeballs and it would send me into an attack. Since moving to Texas, however, the sun seems sooooooo bright that without the sunglasses, the same thing will happen....so I have to wear them a few minutes, take them off, put them back on...etc etc

Ain't clusters fun?

Let us know what happens at the eye dr's.

YES...I'm photo phobic and phono phobic. Bright lights, loud noises, and strong odors may all trigger a headache with me. I ALWAYS wear dark sunglasses, but I still like to crank up my stereo ( when I'm not having a headache )   ;D
I feel naked if I :
(1) Leave the house without my Imitrex
(2) Leave the house without my sunglasses
(3) Don't have any clothes on  Embarassed

I seem to recall a VERY expensive pair of sunglasses you bought in Vancouver one early morning, Jonny.
