Prense....I've taken quite a few shots for my head while alcohol is in my system. That is what you're asking isn't it? Alcohol doesn't trigger my ch's, they come hell or high water for me. So, no...I don't think there is any harm in an injection, at least it hasn't harmed me yet...(yeah, I know, that's a matter of opinion....LOL ),and I would bet that I've mixed the two probably more times than you can count. Hope this helps, Tracey

Some chronics don't seem to be affected by alcohol. And sometimes it even makes the ch's better, in a few instances, with us.

| Yes, that is exactly what I was asking Tracey. I am chronic, but alcohol triggers about 80% of the time. At least, beer and/or rum does anyway. I had read on the trex injection paper (came with the script) to avoid alcohol or at least limit it while on this med. I was just looking for clarification. Thanks again! Chris

Been there and done that too. Alcohol WILL trigger an attack for me...so I don't drink very much at all. But, I have used Imitrex several times in the past while under the influence. Still worked and I'm still alive. If alcohol is a trigger for you, why would you drink?

Same here, chronic, alcohol is a definate trigger, i have used the injection, so that i can have a night out, it's either that or drink enough not to feel the pain, have had no ill effects from injection and alcohol.

| I could NEVER drink enough to ease the pain. When I was in MI. and used to sometimes get what is termed 'blackout drunk', I would get brought out of it awakened and aware I am in an attack and fricken dying! I am chronic, and my experience is, if I drink beer or white wine, I am okay. Liqour, such as vodka, Jager (my fave), and I recently discovered Bacardi 151 inside a watermelon can induce an attack. I quit drinking for a long time, and stayed the same (chronic). When I joined this band at the beginning of the year, I rarely ever drank. These guys LIVE on beer. I preferred ice water or mountain dew. Lately, once in awhile I say WTF and go ahead and drink. Gonna have a few beers tonight meeting with Greg at City Limits to arrange OUCHFest, and then we are going to see PowerTrip (who will be headlining OUCHFest) at Wicks in Alton, IL. The first time I used Imitrex, I had a few beers, but was far from drunk, and used it. However, if I start on the Verapamil Tuesday, I will NOT be drinking. WARNING: If you take Verapamil, I strongly discourage drinking, as you can have an interaction and it could be very bad. I did that once in Michigan and almost died. No lie. That near brush with death is what made me move back to Illinois. I figured if I die soon, I want to be near my family. Still not dead, Carl D

If I get attacked as a result from alcohol, each additional drink will AMPLIFY the attack. I found this out prior to my diagnosis. The thought process was, "I can drink this HA away." Ummmmm, bad idea. Thanks for all the responses to my original question folks. ;D Chris

You have to drink a hell of a lot, i stick with spirits, throw in 1 paracetamol/ 30mg codiene, and you have a 50/50 chance of avoiding pain, I risk it about twice a year. As for do i have clusters, yes every day, last day off was a long time ago, i cannot honestly say when. on Sep 7th, 2003, 9:54am, UnsolvedEquation wrote: How the hell do you do that ? | A thought befor your next silly question: Clusters present themselves with many variations, what is a cure for some , may have the opposite effect on others. As nice as i'm sure the people are here, I am here to learn about this totally dibilitating condition that has taken over my life for the last 8-9 years, i am stopping there, as i can feel a sermon coming on, and i do not wish to start one, as for the alcohol, i think of it as my little laugh in the face of the beast
