Found some joy in such a small thing!

I went to my Neuro today. Hes an old grouchy cantankerous man when ya 1st meet him, But he changes ur mind while ya talk to him. Anyways, This was my follow up meeting with him. We sat down and he asked me how i was feeling. I told him not too bad, except for the side effects of the Prednisone and Verapamil. I told him i havent had a CH above a Kip5 since last friday, and hadnt actually had any kind of headache since Monday!Ya know, He genuinely grinned and smiled. Like he got the utmost satisfaction from whipping this Bastard. He has probably told me 5 times in my 2 visits about how he has lost 5 patients in his 30 years of practicing due to Suicide. He also has told me at least twice that no matter what i need, "DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL" anytime of day or weekend. I am going to tell you, I walked out of his office with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. I have never felt that kind of compassion from a Doctor before. He was still beaming as i was walking out his door! And i am feeling somewhat sentimental here. My Neuro's name is Sam Zimmerman, and he practices in Greenville, S.C. Patrick

Do you think that when they asked George Washington for his ID, that he just whipped out a One Dollar Bill?

Patrick, ah qhat was his name again and where is he practicing? I havn't spoken to my neuro in almost a year...the man is an idiot. It's really good to hear that there are actually some Drs. out there that care about the patient and not the paycheck. Cheers, Juvy

Thanks for sharing that. Glad you found a good doc. Compassion is one thing we can give away abundantly for free and feel like we are richer for it.

It really is cool to find a doc like that. Dr. Peters in Mt. View, Ca is like that. He seemed genuinely happy that he got mine under control. -Shawn

It sure is nice to have a great doc. I'm glad you've found one too. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor myself. Even though my clusters have been really tough to control, my doctor is always there for me. I can call him anytime, night or day, and he will do anything it takes to bring me relief. DHE anytime. Morphine, Stadol or Demerol anytime. He has supplied me with Imitrex samples for years. He has literally given me thousands. Before I had insurance...he would not charge me a dime for his services. He's even admitted me a few times and not charged anything. There is no wait time for an appointment...ever. If I need to see him ... he see's me during his lunch break. What else could I ask for in a doctor ?!! ;D

You are so fortunate Patrick - it can take forever to find a doc who will listen in the first place, hear what you are saying, much less have compassion. Yep, money is usually the thing. Its the little things that mean a lot. Good for you!

Hey Patrick, makes such a difference those "small" things in life, I know. While in the midst of an attack I frantically called a neuro in New York City. I got the message machine..........I began babbling incoherently, crying, at my wits end. He picked up the phone and told me to get to him as soon as I could. What? no appointment? No waiting? No SECRETARY tawkin to me like i'm a dimbulb, makin me wanna reach through the telly and STRANGLE her? I've been seeing him ever since and that was about 8 years ago.***** Took me over two decades to find a doc like that. They are out there, but sometimes we go through many frogs afore we hit the prince. Continued success and well wishes*****Kim
