Well, girl, cummon down to the balmy state of confusion, I mean North Carolina!

We'll teach you how to say "y'all"  how to eat "chittlin",  "grits",  "boiled peanuts", "okra", and southern style "barbeque".

But you will have to get rid of that northern twang and remember to put the letter "R" back into your vocabulary.

Chitlin is (I think) pig intestines cut like onion rings and then deep fat fried (like most foods are down here).  They are the worst smelling things when you are preparing them, but they taste great!

Okra is a vegatable that looks like a chilli pepper.  Many times is sliced across it, and then fried or what ever.  Many people (like me) are turned off because it has this slimmy mess on them!   YEUCHHH!!!  But I have been told it is one of them main ingredients to any gumbo, and I love gumbo.

Boiled peanuts are fantastic!  They still have the peanut taste, but are soft, like a bean.  They are still in their shell like the roasted ones are.

I am a former Mnot a very nice person, and have worked VERY hard to get rid of that Boston accent.  Now when I go home (was there the end of July) I cringe when I hear them talking.  My Mother and Father are the worst!!!  But they are in their 80's now and there is no way I am going to be able to change the way they talk!  You know how stubborn those old New England yanks are!   Wink Roll Eyes Undecided

First of all EWWW bout the intestines!!!
I know what you mean about stubborn New Englanders....and in my experience here in NH ppl are cold if you didn't know them since friggin Kindergarten you are just not worth the time of day to alot of the ppl here.  NOT all of them are like that but ALOT are!

Hey and I have worked very hard NOT to get a NH accent and I've been here for wow I'm not sure, well over 13 yrs (moved here when I was in the 2nd grade but spent lots and lots of time in CT) I'm too brain dead to figure out how many years exactly lol

The small town I lived in before I left Massachusetts, was a lot like a lot of the smaller towns in New England, if they don't personally know your grandparents, you are an outsider!

My wife came from BIG city New Jersey, and when we lived in a town near my parents, she could not beleive how many people knew the family name and knew my family.  Every time she wrote a check, they would ask her are you related to ...  or .... which one of the boys did you marry?  Blew her mind!
