...that said: the job is a challenge--fix the traffic in Austin! ...no wonder it's gonna take 3.7 BILLION dollars and ten years... 10 sections to do, (they started with Section 7, then 3, then 4, and my crew is now supposed to do Sections 1 & 2) ... me thinks Dubya had something to do with this   Wink

o yeah, the *Trip*: except for the overall 5.2 MPG and the headlights and wipers falling off in Wyoming (and again in New Mexico), while 3 grumps and a dog fiddled with the occaisionally functional air conditioner in the cab of the U-Haul, it was a GREAT TRIP... and then we got to Austin and it was ONE HUNDRED EIGHT FUCKING DEGREES and 60% humidity.... a real treat when ya got MonkeyButt(tm) from four 15-hour days of driving and staying in roach-infested, curry-scented,  Super8's....

well, ole Notfer got heat prostration/almost stroke while un-loading said VehicleOfDoom and the wifey called 911 after my extremities went numb following projectile vomit...
by the time the EMT's got there, I was nekkid in a tub of cold (ha!) water, sucking GOOD OLE O2 on a NON-REBREATHER MASK @ 15 LPM... BP 95/55...   Shocked
...the EMT wanted to know why I had o2 on-hand: I told her I'd have to kill her afterwards... and NO-I-DO-NOT-WANT-GO-TO-THE-FUCKIN'-E.R.

..so, an entertaining time was had by all.....   ;D

Damn N4, whatcha mean this weekend??  Hell I moved after you did, drove the 1200+ miles, got my house set up and online and back on track before you!!!  What's goin on there?? LOL.

C'mon, give up the details.  You've been slackin or you would have been back before now Wink

Cat

Edit:
Ok Ok, so I had some help LOL.  The movers did pack the remainder of my stuff, and they did load and unload it.  The packing and unpacking is the hard part though hehe.

Glad to know we weren't the only schmucks who suffered the UHaul curse LOL.  I swear, those trucks/trailers are completely unroadworthy.  Ours had some serious electrical issues.  Rush hour traffic in Chicago with no tail lights or signal lights is loads of fun.

So happy you got there in one piece and didn't suffer any further brain damage from the heat stroke Wink

Keep us posted on the new abode and the job Smiley

N4H:

Um hon...As a Texan speaking to a newbie...You're not a Texan.  You must first suffer in Texas for years before you get the right to call yourself a Texan.  You're a Transplant.....And don't be offended if people call you a yank...anyone from north of the Red River is a yank to most Texans.

Enjoy the stay.  Let me know if you need any info on Austin.  Take it easy and get back online asap.

Cheers,
Juvy

Lol Not4, Sounds like a hell of a trip.  No i don't miss the scorpions, the rattlesnakes, the fire ants, the heat, the humidity......the list goes on.

As to how do I like the rain in the Netherlands.....Ask me again in the winter.  In the summer I like it because it breaks up the heat.

In the winter I hate it.  It rains...turns to ice..eventually it snows...snow melts...snow refreezes...snows a thin layer on top of melted refrozen snow.  Juvy tries to walk to work on what looks like snow and busts her ass at least 50 times.  That is when I miss Texas...that and the land here is a carpenter's dream..Flat as a damn board.  I need hills.

see what you started...a rant.

Glad you made it okay.  Take it easy and stay out of the sun.

Cheers,
Juvy

P.S. at the rate they build the transportation system in Austin, You'll have a steady job for the rest of your life...Them peeps bring a new meaning to the word SLOW.
