Imitrex...How Much Is Too Much?

Monday, I decided to do what I had read on the board, and that is to take an Imitrx at the first twinge, so I felt one comming and I took a 50mg, it aborted with just the slightest pain, and throughout the day I did that and it worked just fine, I had a Great Day almost pain free. (About 5 Imitrex Tabs and no injections)

Tuesday, I tryed to do the same thing, and not only did it NOT work but I think they were worse I had a constaint headache all day, with the actual CH's kicking in about every two hours or so, I was trying to catch them but to no avail. later in the evening I had a doosie Full Blown CH (8-10) from about 8pm to midnight, and after taking about 6-8 Imitrex tabs throughout the day, I was afraid to take an injection, but finally did at about midnight, It killed the CH and I went to bed and slept all night pf.

Since then (the last two days) I have been taking one 50mg 4 times a day 7am, 1pm,7pm, and right before bed I have only had one or two mild CH's but I've had a constant shadow pretty much all day each day.

This whole cluster thing is sooooo freakin wierd.

So did I take too much on Tuesday? and how do the shot and tabs differ, or do they.

In regards to Lee's episode here because I am about to see a different neuro, and I want to avoid this if at all possible...  If medically and practically possible, would supplimenting the imitrex with O2 have prevented or at least helped to minimize the chance of the rebound, if in fact that is what it was, in this case?  Just looking for experienced opinions as I have yet to try either but read about both.

Thanks,
Chris

The more informed folks say that trex dont cause rebounds.....I get three times the HA's when using the trex shots.

I can get all I want for free but I wont use them for that reason.

This is not a negative or positive......its just me!

If the tablets are working for you (meaning, you are not getting Kip 8-10 frequently and can wait for the triptan action) I would switch to Amerge. I' ve been having shadows daily for the last couple of weeks some of them "evolve" in to full blown CHs.
I finally got some Amerge from my Neuro. Well it works. The longer 1/2 life of this triptan allows for it work for a loong time.
I would give it a try.

Thanks, for all your advise everyone,

Jonny, if you don't use trex wtf do you do omg you da man, that is the only thing that works for me so far anyway, and for me the shots always work, but I can't do them 10 to 15 times a day.

Ozzy, I just got a script for amerge today, I hope it works as well for me.

Thanks again people, heart felt vibes to you all! wishing you all pain free days and nights.
