Hi everyone, 1. Since when do you know the "Cluster Headache" expression? 2. When did you try/use Imitrex first? Me in 1996. I was misdiagnosed and mistreated up to that time. Thx, totka

Hi totka- I first heard the term when I was diagnosed in 1998 by my ear, nose and throat doctor of all people. The first time I remember having them was when I was about 16yrs old. I will be turning 29 next month. This cycle is the first time I've used imitrex.

Totka, I first heard the term Cluster Headache in 1985 when the neuro told me "You're having CH's but we just don't know much about them." and sent me on my way. I went for about 13 yrs trying various meds w/out any success until I read about Imitrex in '98 and I asked my GP to let me try it. He prescribed the nasal form and it was the first time anything had ever stopped the beast. Jim

A neuro told me I had CH in 91. A Doc at the VA hospital in Roseburge OR gave me a shot of Imitrex when i had an attack while there in 2000. Stopped the CH in about 2 minutes. They will now get my trex from me when they pry it from my cold dead fingers. TTFN Kirk

First heard about CH in 99 when I had gone to see my third nuero in 3 weeks. I had been misdiagnosed for 4 years before that. I first read about Imitrex on this site the same day, but only got hold of it 1 year later.

Got my 1st Ch in 1975,1st diagnosed with CH in 1991, Learned of Imitrex in 1995 or 1996. I am appreciative of Imitrex, but it gives me rebounders from hell. But when you absolutely have to have a painfree day due to a planned event. Imitrex is a lifesaver! Wishing painfree days for all, Patrick

Hi Hopefull As I have stated before on this board, for me the difference between the Imigran/Imitrex pills, nasal spray and injection is like chalk and cheese for me. Maybe the pills and spray work for migraines or for some guys CH, but they don't touch my CH. I have tried all 3 versions of this drug many times and now know I can depend on the injection every time. The injection works every time for me in about 10 mins, and the relief is absolutely complete. One minute the pain is there, the next it is totally gone. My opinion - don't waste time on the pills or nasal spray! By all means try them once or twice to see if they work, if not try the injection at least once. John

Hopefull, yes the injections are CONSIDERABLY better than the pills. According to the doc/researcher at the convention, the stats showing up for the drugs show that trex injections are the only effective abortive on a consistent basis. Other triptans are being investigated, and one that looks very promising is Zomig nasal spray. I suggest you check out the med board and clusterbusters to find out info on shrooms though. If you are having that much trouble with finding something to work, that may be the answer you are looking for. Many many people have had great success with it. Cat
