Question about I.V. DHE

Would like to know from those of you who have had I.V. DHE. Were you sent home on preventive medications? When my husband had the treatments the last week of June, he was sent home on Depakote 750mg 2 x daily, Lithium 300mg 1x daily x 1 week, then 2 x daily thereafter, Baclofen 10mg 2 x daily, and Norvasc (for B/P) 1 x daily. I am happy to say he has had NO !!!!!! Yea!!!! HEADACHES since coming home, but it seems that everytime he sits down, he falls asleep. I know that it is the medication, but I was wondering if others who have had the I.V. treatments and have remained symtom free for long periods were on any other meds on a daily basis. We go back to the neuro in Dallas the 23rd and I will have questions as to the time frame that he will have to remain on these meds, will they be reduced over time?, etc.. but was wondering about what other sufferers had done after the I.V. treatments.

I wanna be like Don when I grow up! DHE IV drip in January, 2001 - no CH's since. Was sent home with vials of DHE and was then on Topomax, Keppra, O2 and Verapamil. April 19, 2001 was my last dose of ANY medication - I've been med free since. ;D My cycle should usually run this Fall so we'll see (i'm keeping my fingers crossed)..... Good luck to you and your hubby - sure hope he stays pain free for a LONG time. Mia

DHE IV for 3 days July 2002. Afterwards, same meds as I was on before DHE course. The Dr. did have me on a couple extra meds through the IV dosage. Beast returned 3 days later (after leaving hospital) but not to the extreme it was before treatment. Have not had extreme (10's,10's,10's) symtoms that I was having in 2002 since DHE IV 3 day hospital stay. Hope this helps. KingOfPain
