Am I another CH victim ??

Here´s the deal. I´m quite sure that i have CH, but i still have my doubts. I´m 20 and I have headaches since i was 14. This headaches happen in periods that last between 3-10 days with one attack each day, 2-4 periods each year. During this periods, i have a pain always in the right eye that last for 30-50 mins. It always happens in the morning, around 9-10 o´clock. There´s only one time that it happend at 6:00 pm. Those pains are the worse thing i´ve ever seen in my whole life(not really long, but well lived). During the atacks i put my hand in the eye and try, at the beggining, to sit and wait it goes away, but after 5 mins i start to walk and try to find something to do to forget the pain, but i´m always unable to do what i find to do, not even kill myself. Light and noise don´t make the pain worse(in fact the pain can´t be worse than already is). I hate to drink meds, but I tried once one of those regular headaches meds during an attack, with no succes. I never had to wake up in the middle of the night because of a pain attack (but my father says that not even the end of the world could wake me up). So, what do you think, am I a CH victim ??? By the way, I know that nothing can substitutes a visit to a doctor, but I hate doctors, and you seem to know more than the doctors about CH. Ps: sorry about my terrible english...

Hi Mr Shining (do you have a real name??) Don't worry about the English, most Yanks wouldn't know correct English anyway ;D Most of your symptoms fit, morning only attacks I think is a bit unusual. Have you done the quiz (four down on the left hand side) That was what diagnosed for me last year. If it is CH , all the help you could need is here W the B

Hi Mister_S. if you have the pooring eye and dripping nose it is likely to be CH. Don't confuse it with regular migraine though, which is less sharp-painful. An attack waking you up in the middle of the night is typical for CH. Regular painkillers such as aspirin, paracetamol or obuprfen do not stop the pain. In fact, they do nothing at all against the beast... You need something more powerful. If youy insist on not taking drugs try 100% oxygen. hope you don't have to join the club and will do better soon PFDAN

Ok, I did the quiz, and almost all the answers were the answers of a CH sufferer, except for 2 of them: "Do you normally experience a "droopy" eyelid on the same side of the face as the pain?" As looking the mirror isn´t one of my thoughts during an attack, I never noticed if it really happened to me. Does it affects the vision ?? "Do your headaches normally wake you up from a sound sleep?" No, never, I always sleep the sleep of the fairs. But I read somewhere that morning attacks are as regular as the night ones. Do every Ch sufferer here wakes up here during a sleep ?? And by the way, before an attack happens, I fell something strange(I don´t know to explain it) around my eye, it´s not a pain, not repulsive, the only thing that makes that feeling repulsive is to know the pain that comes next. It´s like i´m feeling my eye unprotected. Does anyone experience this ?? And W the B, I could have a real name, why not ??

Shiny, while the night time attack is a regular feature, attack patterns change over the years. My own attacks were every night every 2 hours. They have changed to day time attacks since. And my eyelid does not droop either. So find yourself a neurologist, check out everything at clusterheadaches.org to educate yourself and your doctor, for I think we have to welcome you here, even if the reason is not very joyful.

I agree with Ave. I also don't think any of us are "victims" here... unless we choose to see ourselves that way.
