Tara Ann, way baaaad, a long night lonely and in pain. I feel for you, truly. The only time I had attacks turn into a day long nightmare, I have a suspicion I had a migraine riding between them, so I can't really tell, but some folks do have them, i believe. If youhaven't gone to sleep yet: hang in there.

Man, I hate those long nights. I too have had the occasional Migrane hop on board between CHs which means Kipp whatever followed by general migrane right back into another kipp whatever. Sorry to hear about your hellish night. With any luck you'll get some relief and a little sleep on top of it. Hang in there and know WE FEEL not only your pain but are thinking about you. Jmin

Sorry the beast has been visiting and feel free to rant away. To answer your question, the longest one for me was not quite 40 minutes. Had three 20 minutes or so hits within a few hours one night. Pretty lucky I guess. Hope you have a PF holiday. Charlie

Hi TaraAnn, this is one of my first posts. I have suffered from increasing CH for 7 years now. Within my last cycle the worst I have had was a kip 8-10 for 2 hours, a less violent shadow in between and then another 2 hours of kip 8-10. Then I slept a couple of hours and then it started again very early in the morning, another rebound upto kip 10. That was one HELL of a night After it had finally stopped I was so relieved but so exhausted. Lying in my bed coming back to my normal senses I experienced a natural high, like you have just climed a psychological mountain, that was really euforic and extatic   Can anyone relate to this natural high after a high level kip attack? In my most recent cycle, finally having got some powerful medication the worst was only 1 hour at the most, and some light shadows afterwards but thank god no severe rebounds I am very glad I can find some relief now, cause even the very thought of going through hellnights makes me sad 3.15 am local time, time for some hopefully shadow and CH free night hope you will do well the coming time and wish you all PFD&N

Hi Taraann Sorry you are having such a rough one. Can't offer anything except sympathy and a 'Hang in there, it will end" message. Personally I am going to stay on here so Freddy Kruger can't get me. (stupid really as I should sleep, but that's what I feel like doing at the moment) Vibes from across the pond W the B

Last Saturday I had the headache from hell right after mowing the yard. It quickly went to an 8+ and stayed that way for 4 hours. I took my evening meds thinking that might help. I eventually took a sleep aid called Simply Sleep and eventually fell asleep. I was a zombie all day Sunday, but PF since that last HA.

So sorry to hear you are being hit hard. I went through one of those Friday. If I could wave a magic wand . . . The longest I recall was probably an hour. I've never had the 2 hour long ones I've heard about, but mine are normally half hour to 45 minutes long. What preventives do you take? They obviously weren't working when you wrote this. I wish you well. Stuey

| Nabumatone???(something new to try but doesn't really do anything that I can tell) And Staydol NS as needed...but that doesn't help unless I'm just getting a small one and I take it soon enough to put me to sleep. BUT I am doing much better these past few days...I also hope you are too. Tara Ann

I am riding them along side you Tara Ann. 3:30am, and i am squeezing my head and rubbing my temple waiting for my Imitrex to start working. Imitrex knocked it down from a 9 to about a 5 but didnt completely do away with it. I believe it was a rebound CH. Been aborting them since Thursday of last week with Imitrex. Finally caught up with me last night. My usual Ch's last about 2 hours, i'd say that is my average. Every so often i will get one that last maybe 3 hours and they are usually 10's. I also tend to go from the 10 straight into a migraine like headache. Last all day and night into another CH. But the migraine is tolerable, maybe a 4 or 5. Go to my Neuro tomorrow for my 1st visit. I hope he can give me some good meds to stop this. Only been in this cycle 2 weeks now but i am damn tired of it! Be riding with ya again soon Tara, Patrick

A couple hours....sheer terror. That was years ago before I learned about and began taking/practicing the preventatives and abortives here at this site. Now 15 minutes is an unwelcome rarity. Walk in the sunshine den PS: Murazzio....in the very old archives you will find some discussions about the "euphoria" following a CH. One person even theorized that our bodies were creating CH just to get to this "euphoric state". I think somebody bitch slapped him.

Tara Ann, Longest ch I had was during times I took pain meds.........it went on forhours...was hideous. Most of my attacks average about 1 hour top to bottom or beginning to end.......with varying degrees in between. Afterwards, I would often get a "high" and talk a lot. My husband would often warn me not to do that. He thought when I got the "hype" after an attack that I was setting myself up for the next hit...... It's a toss up and roll of the dice. WhatEVER finds that flatline plain where the pain is not is where you should most passionately aspire to be.....it takes time and work. PFDAN********kim
