Children I have some good news......

No, my shoulder is still hurting like the devil, but the nice people at Maytag have decided to give me a NEW refrigerator. Wasn't that sweet of them?

Over the weekend while I was crying and taking pain pills, I looked up all the Board of Directors and the CEO of Maytag and told wrote them about how my darn ice-maker went crazy and spat ice all over my floor and the problems I'd had with my shoulder and how confussed Bill was about everything - you know one of my long-winded "southern" letters. I faxed the darn thing to them on Monday. This morning one of the Corporate VPs called me at work and Carlton was so sweet - he was very concerned about Bill being upset about the fridge being out and my shoulder hurting and all. Then he called back the second time and said they were just going to send me a brand new fridge.

Carlton even had me go online and look at a picture of my new refrigerator to see if it was what I wanted. It was really nice (more expensive than the one that went out) and I thanked him very nicely. He's even going to put a rush order on it and everything. His grandmother has Altzheimers and he understood how upsetting a change can be. Geezzz! I wonder if he spent any time in the south?

Anyhow, I'd recommend Maytag appliances to anyone. They're so nice at Corporate headquarters when you write them nice letters.

Anyhow, I think I'll take my pain pill and go to bed now. My work for today is done. You children play nice tonight.

Hugs BD

Barbara, that is sooo wonderful!  It let's me know that there are some good souls left in this world.

Now, cynical me says... hey, they were just trying to avoid a suit that would have cost them 5 times or more of the cost of that fridge they are sending you!

Ok.  Enought of Cynical Girl.  I'm so glad that you are getting at least a new fridge for your and Bill's pain and hardship.

I have to say, what you are doing for your ex, is
ex-traordinary!!  You are one HELL of a woman!

Maytag is good stuff. I am on my second set....since 1968! The first set was Avocado Green! I gave them away about five years ago after my Grandmother passed away. She got them when my Dad died in 1972.  As far as I know they are still working.

They set we have now is almost 21 years old! I did replace the dryer this year, but the washer is still going strong!

Strange thing, the only problem I ever had out of either set was at the 20 year mark a small vacuum breaker valve wears out. Takes about 30 minutes to repair, at no cost! The same valve went bad in both at the same time. Apparently the old style was pretty good, there was no change in design between the two!

I would say your experience is a good one for an American company....nothing like good ole fashioned customer service...a dying art!

Nice when things go right Barb.  Cool

My central air conditioner was installed in 1969. It's a Lennox and still does a fine job.  Amazing. Haven't had someone look at it since it was put in.  I should make a call.

Call.

Maybe OUCH should partner with Maytag.

I've been known to stick my head in the freezer. Maybe they will design a nice little head compartment for us.

don, I hope you're not talking about the washer...or maybe yes as it would bang your head for you and save you energy.

That is good news Barb, and goes to show that complaining (nicely) does get us somewhere.  I've been tempted several times, but never actually did it.

Get healed soon.......see you in Oct.............right?
