hey guys, i just finished a discussion with my manager regarding my performance, and here comes, my lack of performance due to my bveing sick or not 100% available....i can understand where she is coming from, in a sales team where personal as well as team targets count, i am not really somone that is indispensable.... Obviouysly i feel very sad about this, even though she ofered me a job within the compnay that is less stressy and with more regular woreking hours....only i take like 500 euros (400 usd?!?) less pre tax....i hate my headaches and what they have done to my life, i really thought this was my chance to make it somewher work woise, but the beast has put an end to that dream...i was episodic , so itw as very easy to d3eal with it, but now, since i dont have a specific pattern that the beast sticks to and that i dont have any pain free time that is longer than two days its hard to keep a job and keep my life together...has anyone ha their life fucked up by the beast? or am i being a girl thingy abot things?

This thing knows how to mess with lives. You're not alone. I'm not sure if you have lost a job or are in danger of losing it. I know that my episodic wasn't too bad and I worked with some very forgiving types. After all they put up with my epilepsy too. Personally, I don't think stress is a cause of CH but it certainly is stressful. Pain is different for each and all I can say is to do your best. Sorry if I'm missing something here. Good luck in any case. Charlie

Hi Lightning Sorry to hear that CH is affecting your work performance and that is very visible to your boss! In my opinion CH is not stress related! If you managed your job well without the CH attacks then it is not going to help putting you into a lower paid, less stressful job. I don't know what meds you are taking, but imigran/imitrex injections in the very convenient and easy to use (but very expensive) packaging gets me through most working days when I am in cycle without many others being aware of my problem. You just need to get enough stockpiled and have it with you at all times. When you feel the bastard coming, go to the toilet, pull down you trousers, inject (painlessly) into the thigh, wait 10 minutes, then back to work as if nothing happened. When you are finally out of cycle make sure you still get prescriptions filled every month to stockpile for next years cycle. This way you don't have to be off work sick. The problem arises for me when the meds get in short supply or you forgot to bring them to work. Then you have to suffer or go home or stay off work. Not a good thing for the boss to see! Some guys here say be open and discuss this with the boss, but if they are not the sympathetic kind then it is better to keep quiet and find a med that works for you until the cycle is over. 500 Euros a month will buy quite a lot of imigran. Hang in there mate. It will pass. John

Hey Guys, Thanks for all yer replies...i love coming to this website... Thinking about htings, i have noticed that stress actualy isnt such a big player in the pain game, i mean, i even get attacks if i am chilling in the sun witrh a (non-alcoholic) cocktail... you guys are right, the beast has already taken so much from me, its time to end all that...me and imitrex have started the anti-beast movement for a cluster free people..or somehitng, the cool thing is that here in the netherlands, all medicine and most medical attention is payed for by yer health insurance, so i dont have to worry about the price of imigran, but my doctor sure as hell does, i got prescribed 4 nasal sprays(they work best, due to my still incurable phobia of anything "needle"i went to the pharmacy and they opnly had two in stock...dman....just my luck... Juvy, hey wazup ol'dutchie...its nice to know that part of this site is clse to home...talking abotu sites, i like yours juvy..... greetz to everyone, i hope everyone is having a pf day, week, month, eternity ....

Ride Lose the phobia about needles! It is nothing like a "regular" injection. Have you tried the "jab" yet? The needle is very short and the autoinjector fires it painlessly into your leg (I find it easier in the upper right hand of my right thigh) count to 10 and then pull it out. The slight sting is nothing compared to the pain! The inhaler is rubbish compared with the inj. It is slow and very hit and miss. I was like you and wary of the inj at first, but now I don't give a shit if it gets rid of the pain in less than 10 minutes. John
